BMW and M Power Owners

Not sure what your car is but just as a comparison, I recently got my bumper replaced (F10 M Sport) and it was a total of £1,600 (mostly part costs).

Thank for the help, it's a 650i M Sport GC. Sounds a similar ball-park figure, was just surprised at the labour costs.

Most people will run the new lines along past the tank rather then up and over as per the original route.that said, £250-300 is probably about right

Place in Cathcart said he'd put them where they came from as I suggested other people ran them an easier way. That's the £373.

Might take up bm mini place in clydebank on the £300. Tried to phone b for BMW but they seem to still be closed for the festive period.

The limited dealings I've had with b for BMW have been really poor, I've heard good things about the mini guy

Bit random for a BMW but you could try calling automek or performance tek (EK and Dalmarnock respectively). Both Honda guys but will probably be happy enough to do lines for you and are trustworthy

Had front to back brake lines replaced on my e39 530i as per its recent MOT failure, including the MOT & labour I paid just under £300.

Anyone know which aftermarket nav unit I can fit to my e46? I have the hk speaker set up and can't seem to find a set which will work with it?

I really should do my brake lines too, it passed its MOT in September without advisories but the car is getting on a bit now and these are known to corrode. I have new brake hoses and caliper rebuild kit waiting for when better weather comes along so it would make sense to did all in one go.

Is 3/16 pipe and 10mm unions right for the e39?

I have one of the Erisin Oem lookalike ones running android 4.4.4. Have had it since like July and for the money, it's excellent. I'm not sure if it will work with your HK out of the box but as far as I'm aware they can be modified easily to work

So...does anyone know anything about a whine on the 8spd auto box? Mine seems to have developed a bit of one, a bit of google-fu seems to show a lot of people have this issue but that BMW say it's just a feature of the box.

They've been doing the work on my cars for nearly 3 years, top guys.

Glad to hear it, will call them tomorrow lunchtime if the haven't emailed back.

I've heard good things about Automek within the Jap side of things, certainly clocked quite a few EKs with Automek stickers and Leo at the chinese near my work takes his E90 M3 and his brothers R34 Gtr too.

It's a relatively common complaint on the BabyBMW forum, with mixed success regarding replacements etc.

I'd get it checked in at BMW.

Looking for a bit of advice, planning to pick up a 2009 possibly 2010 [e61] 530d touring. The options I'm looking at are around 80k on the clock. Anything particular I need to pay attention to in terms of servicing/items that should've been replaced when I'm looking at these? I've found a couple of well spec'd models that I'm going to see this week (adaptive lighting / rear heated seats / bigger nav screen et al).

I've so far noted from research (aside from your standard items like pads etc etc) swirl flaps and turbo - anything else to add to the list?

The thermostats can fail which can lead to poor economy and failed DPF regens, they are not hard or expensive to replace.

What does it sound like?

It's simply put a whirr noise. It's fairly quiet until about 1500rpm at which point it becomes obtrusive.
Seems to affect all gears. Infact it's a similar noise to what you would normally hear if it's in reverse!

What I also want to avoid is paying BMW to diagnose something and then them going 'known problem, no replacement, here's the bill for our time'. The car's now just over 3 years old but I do have named component cover from BMW.
