It's not unreliable when used in auto mode in the 330 either though!?

You said above that it was?![]()
8 series, awesome. Still remember wussing out on buying an 850 6-speed - but the starship mileage (think it was 220,000) stopped me from doing so.......Probably a wise decision at the end of the day![]()

No I didn't, I said it takes getting some getting used to, to learn when it will change gear?
or by American's thinking they could drive it like an auto.....
BMW, not a B&W engine!Here's mine:

Keeps breaking down though![]()

I have never heard of the SMG2 boxes having reliability issues being driven in full auto mode.

1) Fox pointed out that SMG1 boxes are unreliable
2) You pointed out that the issues surrounding the SMG1 box were down to americans driving them like auto's
3) I then said that if they are unreliable in automatic mode, i cannot see the point (other than in your scenario)
Where do we have our wires crossed?

Just because Fax says something does not make it gospel truth![]()

Don't want to step in to an argument here but I always thought the SMG box in the 330 was not true SMG, but actually SSG i.e. it uses a torque converter rather than dual clutch? Not 100% sure on that though.
Most SMGII users I know don't use the auto-mode at all. S3 from the off then up to S5 when warmed.
You agreed with him, and put it down to americans driving them like auto's![]()
I think we have our wires crossed, do you mean that the american comment was the americans being annoyed at the style in which they drove, or annoyed at the lack of reliability?
So the upshot of all of this is that they are reliable?![]()
