a) Whether you liked it or not is personal preference and not what anyones advice was based on.
b) Obviously I *have* driven an SSG fitted E46.
The advice was about the longevity of the system and not the (in my opinion flawed, SMG2 is far better) merits of it, as if you liked it then thats all that mattered.
Thats not really what anyone thought, and it's far from '2 guys on the internet'. It's widely accepted that the first generation SMG system was a bit of a disaster by all accounts
I'm sure you are, but you've totally missed the point. The point was never 'You will get in and hate it' because you would be able to find that out for yourself.
If your car makes it to 100k without an expensive SMG related bill I will eat my words and offer a full apology for being a bit harsh in this thread
In the meantime, whack some pics of your new purchase up and we'll say no more about SMG

Still trying to find out what this is.
I think what he's trying to ask is, have you made it so that the valve in the exhaust is open constantly (as opposed to just at high RPM when it is supposed to open automatically). From reading around, it seems to be quite a popular mini-mod to make the exhaust sound bettter all the time and quite a few owners report that the valve actually gets rusty and doesn't open when it's meant to.
Found it, now just need to find the pipe.

About 4 inches from the end of the tailpipe, on the pipe with the flab, which should be the inside (right hand side pipe in the UK), you will see the assembly, and then the pipe leading to the assembly. It's quite small. Just unplug it from the assembly and plug the end of the pipe with something so as not to cause a vacuum leak, and that's it done! Oh yes, just look down the tailpipe to make sure it's open as some do get stuck sometimes!

No problem! Just use something good sized to wedge in the end of the pipe. Most use a golf tee... Then tie the pipe out of the way with a cable tie.

Yeah thats where they were taken. My mother-in-law works with the guy who owned the crossfire(i still have pics of it from when we were at the pub and some old biddy reversed into the front of it and drove off). Did you know a girl called Clare who worked for Healthcode in the same office block as Bupa?
