Boo Hoo, Poor Scalpers

I'm sure it's pretty obvious where this screengrab is from - I took it late afternoon today. This must be the most 'ballsy' scalper ever!

Cheap! Impressive

Is he a member on this forum too ? Maybe worth checking what he's sold before and check the MM for same listings ;) .... No mercy anymore for them and back to naming and shaming them if they are on OCUK forums, so heads up !

He's a full time scalper by the looks of his other for sale threads there too....

I notice that he wants it all his way, too. So if you buy from this guy you get ripped off, you have to use a bank transfer so there is no come-back, and you lose your guarantee as well. Fantastic buy. I'll have two. Not.

Bank transfer or PPG are fairly standard for members market transactions with buyer paying first. OCUK is pretty good where you need a certain post count/age of account to avoid most scammers, and then users have trust ratings so you can see they've got good feedback.

If you want buyer protection you need to use Ebay or similar.

He can do as he likes on Avforums - The rules around "profiteering" were removed a while ago. I'm a Moderator on Avforums, and the classifieds section, and he's free to do as he chooses.

I doubt he'll get many takers at that price

99.9% of trades go perfectly fine - They also encourage, but it's not mandatory, to use Easy ID to help with smooth transactions.

The difference is that Avforums is a business and the more "traffic" on the forums, the better for the owners. Ocuk is the business and the forums here are just an additional "social" element - they don't provide any income to the bottom line.

I'm not sure what avforums is like these days, but it was terrible years ago. No idea why, but I was banned as the mods thought I was running an AV shop. I've never ran a shop in my life lol

The classifieds are....well, use it at your own risk!

It's same as here though, feedback and trust. I have accounts and feedback on both but mostly buy and sell here.

Mostly people are genuine, any no feedback people may have to send goods first ahead of payment.

same as here - no different. Based on Trust/feedback and your own research and satisfaction that the deal is all good
Not same as here as many people there have many accounts and using the classifieds ;) and playing the system, here it is well monitored and no one is allowed multiple accounts. I know people from here that were scalping there on more than one account. I don't want to name the one here that is famous for his 30 series sales here at the start of the 30 series release and he ended up with over 20 of them he was trying to flog everywhere at the time and even ended up on another account on avforums that he was trying to use to flog them too and his main account.

I'm a member there but tried to buy stuff a few times and ended up with people that don't even want to give you their full name for the payment process or contact details, so ended up not buying anything there, many times I tried for different things and was always something that set off the red flags (even the admins there agreed and allowed me to back out of the purchase as you also know they discourage people from backing out of purchases there too if you put an offer in and accepted by the seller) for me. I don't want to end up with stolen goods or some other form of none legal goods or getting scalped or never receiving what I paid for and all I tried to buy from had either 100s feedback or a lot and all were like dealing with dodgy Del Boy.

No thanks will stick to buying and selling here with people we trust and part of a community that is not trying to rip people off. Until AVforums bans scalping and such behaviour it is only encouraging illegal behaviour there, I know for a fact some there are selling stolen goods or goods that were purchased on credit and not fully paid for and suddenly selling many of the same item and restocking selling again more of the same items new again, they clearly fell off the back of a lorry or some illegal way to obtain them. Sorry but that's reality there and yes many legit people there but the site attracts the crooks too.

Feel free to report all these accusations you are making in order to make Avforums a better and safer place....
Also spouting on here about all the "terrible" things going on isn't really the place for it - Please make sure next time you login on Avforums you report all these terrible sellers/illegal goods you are claiming to know about - it would greatly help the community.

You have to be Stevie Wonder not to see these "accusations" there or turn a blind eye to it. Who has 15+ brand new unopened samsung tablets in their home and selling them there as a recent one that happened there ? Come on it's right in front of everyone there to see. You are a moderator there so if you don't see it well it's not happening right ?:rolleyes:

I have better things to do than play moderator on a forum that pretends they don't see it. Also if I see something off on these forums I do click REPORT and the moderators here react to it very quickly and deal with the issue, because they see the issue once reported and in most cases they have spotted the issue before even having to click REPORT (guessing most Mods here have 20:20 vision or have been to specsavers aka not turning a blind eye).

As you said too in green... more traffic the better, better for them as it's used as a business .. So basically money talks and BS walks ..

Also Easy ID was introduced because of the scams there too and moderator there even warned people to be careful and it has got bad there. Also the site was hacked and people had their passwords stolen and logins in recent times too and we were all forced to change them, so security of the site is also pretty poor.

Also OCUK Forums are really a business tool too and makes them money as we forum users use their store too and also us forum users help their business as we help their customers with issues too, so reality this makes them money too but they don't play they don't see dodgy behaviour in the members market, anyone selling more than 1 or 2 of the same thing "new" is asked why they have that many and to prove they own them. As much as I get annoyed with some of the rules on the MM and the mistake time outs I have been on there I still respect they are at least looking out for us all there too and doing as much as they possibly can on such a site, they can't hold our hands all the time but they see the things that clearly stick out as not right, Moderators from here would have a field day on the AVforums Classifieds.

Me and the Mods here have had our moments too and reality is if they toned down some of the silly infractions the Members Market is one of the best places on the internet to buy and sell stuff on within our community, AVforums is a community on the topic sections and the classifieds are a minefield with no community behaviour there.

Also in red above you even state scalping is allowed there "profiteering" so if the site thinks scalping another name for profiteering is an ethical thing to do in a community then we have to question the other unethical issues there allowed.

AVforums is the second most used forum I use because I love AV and like reading like minded peoples comments there on equipment and media, which it is probably the best place for apart from the American AV forums avsforum which is great too but a USA audience there. AVforums is really good apart from the classifieds and the rules there need to be changed to stop scalping and behaviour that is not in the interest of the "community".

Community example :-

Another AVforums community Classifieds example and what the rules there encourage on the classifieds and how our OCUK community and moderators here reacted to it:-
