Booths & Waitrose

Self service tills would be great if people used them, walking around the other day, there was 8 self scan tills, 3 of them being used.... and then the checkout next that 10items or less, had a queue of 6 people and i was there think WTF, idiots
 
I normally just drop in on the way from work when I'm on the bike anyway so I'll never have more than a few items so the self service will be perfect for me while all the old people are queueing for a chat.
 
they have just fitted them big ones at my local, with the belts, so people can put there trolley shops through them selves, i dont see this being a good idea, most people have normally had enough of shopping by the time they get to the till, without scanning it all them selves too
 
I stopped on my way back from the North Coast 500 at a fantastic shopping area off the main run back (I can't recall if it was south or north of Inverness) and I am not sure if it was Booths but it was very very high quality and impressive. If that was a Booths it is significantly better than Waitrose which in itself is significantly better than most supermarkets. Impressed if it was a Booths. Sadly I had hardly any space in the car to fit food so I could not fill my boots :(

They have a delivery service and the staff can order online from them I believe when Fortman and Masons have run out of cake.

They never run out of cake, it's just that once stocks get low they stop selling it to plebs.
 
I went shopping in Waitrose this morning, prices of some of the items I purchased were cheaper than Sainsbury's and they weren't on offer either. Granted some things are more expensive but overall it isn't as bad as some people make out. Also the quality of items is generally better and the staff are friendly and helpful, can't say that about my local Tesco's.

Shopped in Booths a couple of times when on holiday in the Lake District, very nice shop.
 
One thing worth noting about Waitrose is that it's part of the John Lewis Partnership and therefore employee owned. So employees get a say in the running of the company and a share of the profits. I think that (alongside Aldi), Waitrose is one of the better paying supermarkets in the UK to their staff.

I do think that it is employee owned is a good thing.
 
Aldi pay for their shop floor workers is in the region of £10ph iirc so very well paid for low skill retail work.
 
like for like Aldi is far cheaper that trose, however i do go to waitrose a couple of times a week for small extra items... oh and free coffee!
 
I must be a poor person too as I've never even heard of, Booths. Waitrose is in town and is a small one, I'd have to use a P&D. My closest, Tesco is also a small one but does have free parking after 6pm. ASDA is just up the road and is a superstore so that's where I shop/petrol. Once a month I go to, Morrisons outside my work to draw money out so I also go in and pick up some fillers.

Morrisons coleslaw is amazing.
