I went for an eye test before Christmas and some small changes to my prescription and tired sun/daily glasses deemed 2 new pairs were needed. Chose the 2 frames and off they went for new lens's to be fitted. They arrived back within a week and I collected. After about 3 weeks I just wasn't getting on with either, struggling to focus right eyes and generally getting vision issues so I took them back in. To my surprise it turned out BOTH has the wrong lens prescription fitted. So back went the sun glasses first and they came back 2 weeks later sorted. I then fired off the daily glasses which came back about 3 weeks back, but were sent back due, again, to being wrong in 1 lens! So I have gone in today to collect the third attempt to find the left lens is AGAIN wrong.

I have to say I lost my **** in the shop and became loud and told them they had one more chance and I will be expecting a SIGNIFICANT gesture for my problems and if they were wrong again I would expect a full refund and I would be keeping the sun glasses, which are fine now they did them twice. How the**** can such a big brand be so shabby, utterly useless and 2 months plus I still don't have the glasses I paid for!!!

I had more or less the same experience with optical express with contact lenses that went on and on and on for nearly 12 months and each time I saw a different optician they changed the prescription. After 12 month I cancelled them (I couldn't wear them anyway) and went somewhere else who were staggered by the prescription that they had given me as it bore no resemblance to what I needed. I still have 180 pairs of contacts in the cupboard at home that I cant use lol.

Its not isolated to one company, from experience most of them have no idea what they are doing, OE even had the cheek to write to me offering me a reduced rate on laser surgery. I would rather have a go myself with some sharpened sticks than let them anywhere near my eyes again :P

Well now he will see you coming... :D

Only if he's wearing his sunglasses!

Always used Vision Express myself as it's only round the corner. Decent service and the prescription has always been bang on, though that does remind me I haven't had an eye test in about 14months so could probably do with booking one in to see if my goggles need adjusting.

i've never had an eye test, but i'm under the impression they will try to sell you a pair of glasses whatever your vision is like?

Just take your business elsewhere

Easy done I agree, but as a family we use the same place as I have a family history of narrow angle glaucoma and my father and grand mother both went to the same optician (not the shop, the actual optician within it) and both suffer/suffered from it and he is acknowledged as very good in this area and knows the family history and signs. I've never had issues before with them, but this time they have covered themselves with fail.

Can confirm this isn't true. I had an eye test a couple of weeks ago in Specsavers, I still have 20/20 vision and they didn't try to sell me anything. He was very polite and friendly and told me to have a nice day :)
