Borderlands 2 worth getting?

To quote Krieg:

YESYESYESYESYES!!!

:D

Absolutely love this game and the first one. the GOTY edition at 8 quid is a steal and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

I've mostly played solo but also co-op with a select few people and it's always been amazing! If you do pick it up and need a co-op buddy look no further! Happy to loiter in the background and let you pick the missions/choose what loot you want :D

Is it? Of all my friends who have played both I don't think any of them think BL2 is better than 1, better humour maybe at times, better game, no.
Yes, it is absolutely, 100% an extreme minority view.

And humor was really one of the weaker parts of BL2.

I cant even begin to think how you could justify saying BL1 is unequivocally the better game, but I'm not really worried about that. Just wanted OP to know that your opinion is not widely held at all.

If you can rope some friends in, absolutely! Good fun game, loads to do and see. IMO better than 1. It's far more polished and certainly looks a lot better too. Solo isn't much fun though.

I agree that Borderlands 2 was the superior game. To me it took the first game and added a better story and some spit and polish :)

Get it, it's one of the best if not the best shooter of this generation. Tones of content, replayability, incredible DLC, depth, huge variety of builds and play styles, good story lines, humour and much more.

Rubbish :p

I gave my main reasons above :)

In this thread alone you're the only person with this view. The game was hugely successful and still has people playing it today.

You're entitled to your opinion (as are others) but it's quite clear that the game is well-liked in general.

I never said I disliked BL2, merely that I feel that the first was the better game, I am surprised I am so out numbered though lol, as I said, out of my friends nearly all of them agree that the first was the better game and certainly given the fact that I finished it something like 5 times where I never actually completed the second bears witness to that. Maybe I need to play it again and give it another chance, if I can squeeze it in between playing Elite, Bloodborne and Destiny :D

You were probably expecting one thing and got another with the second game. I played Civ 5 on first release and loved it. Civ 4 veterans hated it.

On topic I loved BL2, but could only recommend it with friends. As a solo experience I found it lacking something.

Steam says I have 86 hours in it, so I can't have hated it that much :p Pity I can't compare with the first but my steam version of that only has 29 which is down to the fact that I only bought it on steam recently having had a retail version since release.

As others have said, Just get it. You will be surprised how many hours you'll end up putting int it.

Couple of friends in it as well makes it shine even more!

I still go back and play it most weeks tbh. Think I have 150+ hours in it now.

You aren't, I agree with you. I loved the first game, thought it was fresh and loved the graphics and the guns you could get. It was amazing. I thought the second one was a good game but just thought it was the first one with extra loot. Most of the loot is just the exact same with minor stat differences. Getting a good gun in BL2 just didn't give the same buzz as it did in the first one. And a lot of my friends feel the same way.

To the OP, if you didn't like Borderlands 1 then you probably won't like BL2. But if you are getting it really cheap, then why not try and see.
