Borderlands 3

I'm playing in a laptop, 6700HQ (4 cores, 8 threads) and a 1060 6GB. All fine at 60FPS 1080p med/high settings.

Your 8400, whilst having 2 fewer threads, is around 50% faster than my cpu in general, I doubt that is causing your woes.

I watched a video earlier on youtube where the guy said having less threads matters in this game for whatever reason (DRM?) and if you haven't enough you will get stuttering.

So been playing using dx11 cause everyone and their mom said dx12 was broken(it sorta is) and when I tried dx12 I was getting what looked like infinite cl4ptr4p loading screen. HOWEVER, I decided to give it another try this evening and while it took several minutes to get past the mighty guardian mr cl4ppy himselves, when I finally did and went for a play session holy jeez was performance better. Went from 90fps to over 120. Dips would sometimes be as low as 55ish using dx11, haven't seen a dip lower than 100. There is still a tiny bit of microstutter but it's better than using dx11 in my case. It's going to be very interesting to see if this holds up once i start leveling a new toon.

1080p, DX12(takes forever to load)
Preset very low chosen then
tune rest of the settings to high, except for texture streaming which is ultra

Windows 10 EDU 1903 fully patched as of this post
Gamebar and gamemode disabled
Using Wagnars standby list cleaner(no idea if it helps in this regard as I havent tested it yet)

PC Specs:
Ryzen 3600 @4300mhz
Gigabyte B450 Aorus M
16(2x8gb) 3200mhz CL16(not tweaked past XMP)
Game installed on Samsung 850 SSD
Windows installed on samsung 840 SSD
Sapphire Nitro+ Vega 64 undervolted using driver 19.9.2

Before I gave DX12 a shot I noticed a new patch has been released(got ingame message about it). Maybe it included some improvements to DX12, or maybe I'm just one of the lucky few for the moment.

Considering the problems, etc where is this game now?

Don't buy until they fix the major problems or it's worth getting even with the bugs?

Personally going to wait til it’s out on steam as by then the multitude of bugs should be squashed and it’ll be cheaper... then again you could buy it now and have no issues at all! Depends how bored you are I guess !

Oh man. I didn't realise the bank on the ship allows transfer of items between characters. I've been chucking all my class mods away for the other characters.

I found a way to fix the massive amounts of input lag on this game.

Pretty easy fix, turn field of view down all the way to 70, (I had mine on 110)
Also turn all the dead zones down on the controller (mine were on stock)

This is night and day different. So much better now.

If you play on pad then I definitely recommend doing this.

Also think i have fixed most the stutter, if i turn vsync off and just run 1440p 120hz and use custom cap 70fps. It's still not perfectly smooth like it should be but definitely smooth enough to play now.

@imginy rookie question and might have been asked but have you tried running it off a different drive?

EDIT: Additionally...have you got plenty of spare space on the existing drive?

I haven't tried that yet, I will try tomorrow.

i have cleared space on my C: drive I will see if that makes any difference.

Killavolt. First time I died all game and what a git. :D

Spent the next 4 lives trying to kill him by sheer weight of DPS. Then swapped to a completely different weapon type and spammed him to death in seconds instead. Who knew! :p

I find the boss fights weird. Trying to kill them with an elemental weapon to match their shield or armour doesn’t seem to work so you may as well pick any random weapon in your inventory and hope it’s got the DPS needed.

I'm not that bored :) , so will wait for a less buggy game.

Considering I have many games still that I am looking at, it'd be a shame to buy another without playing through the games I like most first.

8/10 with a seal of approval from AngryJoe. He highlights issues with the game and the dialog and villains but points out that despite those things the game is simply brilliant fun and the best Borderlands to date.

Had my first CTD last night, relaunched it and then a pop-up appeared and said an update was available but a restart was required.

Not installed it yet but does anyone know if it's a hotfix again or a patch? Google didn't tell me anything for a change.
