Borderlands 3

Got it installed on an SSD? Or HDD?

Really can’t see what else could cause you such problems.

I haven't owned an hdd in over 5 years.

Everything is all on solid states, with a 6 core i5, ddr4 ram, gtx 1080, windows 10, new drivers.

I have never had a game run this bad and I own 113 games on steam plus origin pass and all the microsoft games with the ultimate pass and blizzard and uplay games.

I really hope they patch it soon. I can put off playing for another week.

And yeah that is the dx12 version loading, but still what's is it actually doing for 4 mins.

That's nuts. My PS4 loads it quicker than your PC. I did read if you use DX12 it takes an age to load but I don't know if that's a one-time only thing or permanent? Have you tried both DX11 and 12?

You have to mouse over the station on the map and hold E down until it circles the whole box(which is honestly sometimes cumbersome since there's catch-a-rides and vendor machines next to them stopping it being a clean select).

That's just it: there are no stations listed.

Something really weird going on with mine.

1080p dx 11 everything low/off

If I cap to 120fps I get 100fps and stutter
If I cap to 60fps then I get 55fps and stutter.
If I cap to 30fps I get 30fps and it's smooth.

Anyone understand that or what could be causing it. I don't understand that if I can get stay around 100fps why it stays around 55 when I cap to 60.

At this point Im willing to play the game on low settings 1080p 60fps but it wants to hover at 55fps.

for me it is running very well. I have had one crash to dt, when doing the 4 man squad survival, apart from that, im getting a good 80fps when playing most of the time. graphics maxed out apart from the fog and 1 other, that are high

Yep, it makes no sense. With a 1080 you should be able to run 1080P Ultra settings I would have thought. At least.

How many cores does your CPU have?

I found the resolution fix.

go into properties from the BL3 exe. Go to compatibility, change high DPI settings and then set the high DPI scaling override to application.

This keeps it in the resolution in the one you choose without the hidden downscaling.

Credit due by the way. That’s worked for me.

Should have thought of that myself TBH as I’ve had to do that twice before for older games.

6 cores 8400 at 4.1.

I don't think it's my end, I think it's something in game.

But it does feel like the same sort of stutter you would get from an overloaded cpu without enough cores.

When I first got my gtx1080 I was still using my old qaud core and some games would drop hard. It does feel like that.

I could go buy a i7 9700 and drop it in my board tomorrow but I would need to see some proof that my cpu is the cause.

Gears uses same engine and I was averaging 85fps ultra 1440p running very smooth.

I play a lot of overwatch and Im at 150fps+ ultra 1440p.

So you think I could do locked 60fps on lowest settings 1080p on this. It just wants to drop to 55 if I try locked 60 though.

Any suggestions anyone.

Can’t believe how big this game seems. Just landed on a planet which has multiple areas all of which are massive themselves. I had a really good go on it today, thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s all starting to fit into place now (in terms of feeling comfortable with the gameplay) but the story is confusing as hell. I have no idea why I am doing what I’m doing.

I play the Borderlands games with the sound low enough that I can't hear the voices properly. I glance at the text just in case I'm missing something important to progress, but it's all about the guns and clearing obstacles... its Breakout for the 21st Century, the plots always feel like what they are... some poor gits in a writing room trying to cobble something together to make the best use of the level designers' work.

I was just de-stressing with a bit of BL2 before bed and was reminded that one of the things I really like about BL1/2 is that when you look in the distance, the background graphics always show you other areas you've explored or will explore in simplified form. They're big games, which is probably why they retain their replayability way beyond anything I've ever experienced.

According to this your GPU should be more than up to the task. Yours isn’t listed but it’s certainly comparable. However, their testing PC has a 12-core 3900X.

I’m using an 8-core 2700X myself and I don’t suffer the same problems as you but I also have a 2080Ti and am running it at 4K/60, or thereabouts.

Can you OC your CPU some more to see if it makes a difference? Might be worth some time with Google to see if others with the same CPU are having similar problems, although you might have done so already.

Thanks again for the DPI trick. I no longer need to switch the res every time I start the game now. :)

Considering the problems, etc where is this game now?

Don't buy until they fix the major problems or it's worth getting even with the bugs?

Well its hard to say because theres no way of knowing if you will encounter the bugs, for example neither myself or my missus have encountered any bugs at all, nor have any of our friends that we play with. So from all of our points of view there arent any major problems and its all superb. For other people who have encountered issues though it could be frustrating but with no way of knowing beforehand whether you will be the former or the latter , its a difficult question to answer.

Could always buy, use the 2 hour grace period, which should be long enough to tell whether you will have issues or not and then refund if you do and its problematic, or keep if you dont or if its something you can deal with.

Nah I can't overclock it more it locked 4.1.

I can replace it today with something faster like the i7 8700k and 9700k. I did only get it as a temporary because I couldn't afford more at the time.

I have had it ages now so more than had my use out of it.

I'm playing in a laptop, 6700HQ (4 cores, 8 threads) and a 1060 6GB. All fine at 60FPS 1080p med/high settings.

Your 8400, whilst having 2 fewer threads, is around 50% faster than my cpu in general, I doubt that is causing your woes.
