Borderlands

I don't really play games much any more, I completed Resident Evil 5 last week, this is the first game I've finished since Fallout 3 last year.

I'd really like a good multiplayer game to keep me occupied.

Is this shaping up to be a cracking game? Also do you guys think this is going to have the longevity of something like L4D or will it be popular for a couple of months then fizzle out?

From what I've read from this forum and other places people are loving it, a great game made greater by the 4 player co-op. I know some people are well into their 2nd play through already. So if you've got a couple of regular mates to co-op with should get a couple of months worth of play out of it. :)

lack of story? the search for a hidden treasure...

Fallout 3 was an awful game in my opinion, slow, clunky and boring. Borderlands is superior imho.

Yeah, that's your opinion, I personally really liked Fallout 3 and the story was good I thought :)

really? I got bored fast and the bugs where a big pain in the backside. Granted, I played it on release so maybe things have improved. But I also found STALKER pretty meh and Fallout just reminded me of that.

And the world would be a pretty boring place if we all liked the same thing :)

hehe, my brother just got the Fallout 3 GOTY edition, says it crashes ridiculously often still. Its strange how completely unstable it was, and bug ridden to death yet loads of people loved it. While Gothic 3 was a bug ridden unstable mess aswell, and thats all anyone remembers of it.

Anyway, finished Borderlands, still a little undecided about it, unquestionably fun to play, to a degree, I found the weapons a little skewed, basically in the whole game I didn't find a single decent Combat Rifle, being a soldier and having the option to really bump up the usefullness of rifles, seems a shame every last one in the game sucked. the only advantage is higher default damage, but often rof and ridiculous numbers of mods to drop reload times, SMG's pawned them.

I really don't get why people are playing a second and third time through, bigger numbers on your weapons, but then, you get bigger hp bars on enemies, cancels out and seems rather, well, stupid.

Thing is, this isn't WOW, you don't have to have tier 3 gear to get into the next dungeon in the next expansion, its a pretty easy game, with no essential gear, I'm not sure why people enjoy the grind for items, in a game that doesn't need them. Even more frustrating if you find your favourite weapon ridiculously early on in the game.

Well worth buying though, longer single player than many games these days, some fantastic fights, some not so fantastic ones, great great fun for at least one play through. Didn't really like the cellshaded look either in pictures before the release, but its grown on me and ingame I think the overall design and style is fantastic.

unlucky drunkenmaster :(
I'm a level 26 Soldier now, had two orange rank Combat Rifles. One was pretty pants, good damage but poor accuracy, poor rate of fire. Special feature was a massive clip (105 before skills!)

The one i'm currently using is a three shot burst design, great damage, very accurate, scoped, fast reload and it regens ammo passively. It's a great all-rounder, the three shot burst is amazing for headshots.

I'd have liked a fully auto design, but I'm happy for now.

I never understood why people did multiple runs of Diablo/Diablo 2, but I find this much more enjoyable.

Played for a few hours last night, level 14 soldier, liking it very much, given I went off FPS games a few years ago.

Can't wait for the official unlock for some co-op fun!
