Borderlands

Anyone else having problems with join/hosting a co-op, private or public? Me and a mate are trying to do co-op, but in the friends list neither is joinable and it just times out when you send an invite.[/QU

You will need to open a few ports, google for ones needed. Hosted COOP and the sound for some reason kept echoing, apart from that it felt pretty smooth.

The number one thing which annoyed me was that it seemed to be like a mad dash for the weapon crates ignoring most of the enemies and just sprinting, possibly this was ppl I was playing with or me just being slow as it was my 1st play, well thats my excuse anyway!

There were 2 players who I think were sirens who just kept sprinting off (using their dash thingy) ahead ignoring enemies and looting for the weapons. The other guy and me (he was brick I was soldier) would catch up and get to a load of empty crates, bit annoying lol

campaign? you mean playing hl2 right? I think you would like this, it is definitely an fps as you shoot people and wierd creatures and stuff, but also it has little quests which to complete probably means killing people along the way etc. I don't see why anyone that likes pc gaming wouldn't like this tbh.

Well I'm level 8 (Hunter) now, just got to the part where you are given a bit of choice quest wise.

VERY impressed so far, combat is fun if so far a little unvaried, thugs, skags, bigger skags, skags that spit crap at you (or try) but occasionally broken up by an attack by GIANT BIRDS which I find hilarious as a Hunter.

Really enjoying it so far and can't wait till I get some more time to plau over the weekend, especially some co-op goodness.

it's a first person view game however you can modify some game files to enable an over the shoulder 3rd person view. I've tried the 3rd person view and find it a little buggy. It looks fine but the shooting accuracy becomes very poor. Even in sniper mode and i have the target within the crosshair perfectly the shot misses. I've juggled between both views in game and i'm pretty sure it's not a problem with my actual shooting and rather the 3rd person view.

hsp70, there are a few factors that count in that, I think it's quite well balanced. For example, moving target... people shooting at you... gun accuracy.... sniper skill..

Anyway I just hit lvl 16 and killed some nasty dude (wont spoil), kinda suprised I'm liking this game as much as I am...

Anyone having any problems with this not completing quests?

I've just run through the first area twice now and I'm unable to get out of it because after killing all the bandits the bot doesn't call out to the shop keeper :/ (I get the message from the blue eyed lady, the bot trundles up to the shop and just sits there looking stupid).

Very annoying as it looks like great fun

pah

turns out there is a bug if you kill the last bad guy before going round the corner (and being able to see the shop that claptrap goes to).

Any class can you use any gun. I know you get perks for certain types but my son is a hunter and has a uber shotty i found (11x 200dmg ) and it 1 shots lvl 30 mobs . Its insane but only 20% accuracy so need to be up close and personel .

Im running a soldier atm but have qa decent scoped shotty which mulers things at a decent range and atm the quests were doing requires a lot of acid damage so have a acid rocket launcher and smg and a fire assult rifle . You do need to keep a few guns in yer Inv just incase as quite often you need summit that removes sheilds or does acide damage etc

Get the best sheild asap and always buy the ammo upgrades (carry more ammo) and once you get to a decent lvl start dumping white stuff and only take green/blue/purple stuff back to sell .

Dying has large cost implications later . I dunno if its linked to yer weps but was costing me 20k a death and 50k for my son at lvl 30 .

When clearing areas take out the barrels as if you get into last stand mode you will die and resurect as there is no baddie to shoot so shoot everything just to be sure .

Be carefull with yer jeep later on running stuff down . You get hardly any xp and the car will explode and leave you in the middle of loads of mobs miles from another car spawn point .

The rocket and machine gun and the vehicle both suck . And you also get very little xp . But as you level the hp grows on the buggy .

One of the best games i have ever played but way to many sniper rifles and pistols . Considering there is bazzilions of guns it dont feel that way and every chest has the same stuff just abit better . Real lack of decent assault rifles although i found better than the poster a page back .

Persil

Just about to play. Couldnt stay awake to play last night, but have the day off today :)

Edit: The servers are busy and the game is unavailable :(

Edit 2: There we go. Had to relog into steam

i loved the intro to the game and way it introduces NPC's to speak to, very quentin tarantino. i found the first boss guy pretty easy to kill, but those skag things he was with munched my butt good. i'm enjoying it so far - lvl 7 hunter - fly my pretty, fly!

I was rather suprised by that as well, as a lv8 Hunter with the quest weapons that TK Baha gives you from his wifes grave, all it took to kill the boss guy was a single Sniper Crit and a Bloodwing attack and he was lying on the floor shelling out crap weapons, ammo and cash.

The Skags conversely took me 5 times as long EACH.

Haven't managed to die yet, had a few close calls though. First time I ran into the area next to firestone with the lv9 skags when I was lv4 and ended up with 3 health and then again is Skag gully when I went exploring and got my ass handed to me yet again by bloody skags.

Took my revenge though, environment bugs are quite useful when you are feeling particularly vindictive.
