Borderlands

Been playing this with my mate in local co-op. It's great, first two player RPG that's not borked in some way.

We are level 30, I'm a soldier and he's a Siren. He does fire stuff and uses an SMG and I use shotguns. Hopefully any sequel will improve the story and tighten up the inventory system, but it's still great. Really looking forward to the DLC. It's def a game that has to be played multiplayer.

just started playing this!
Is it a known bug that at the very start you can loot the area (including the weapon case on the roof) save & exit, restart and have fresh loot!?
I'm at level 4, got a full inventory, over $4000 and I havent even completed Off the Bus lol.
If I reload & open the weapons case another 10 times  I'll be Level 5, but dont think I can be bothered.

It's because the game doesn't save every little detail, rather than a bug. It's a good way to make the game a bit more dull to play though.

Just started this today. Level 11 now and think I've poorly chosen my class. Went with the Hunter. Finding him pretty poor against the 'bosses'.

My main character was a hunter and i found myself using a rather average assault rifle for basically the whole game, think it was only 50 damage and had no environmental effects, but the magazine size was massive and it served me well. I found sniping to be useless with the hunter until you find yourself a mega rifle at the higher levels.

If you get yourself an assault rifle, an SMG, a shotgun and a sniper rifle btw you can make the most out of your ammo so you pretty much never run out.

Thanks to the sale and a large amount of MS points burning a hole in my e-wallet, I purchased all the Borderlands DLC earlier.

I played it a lot around Christmas but other games have been getting my attention since then. I'm really looking forward to getting my teeth *sniggers* in to zombie island as well as the others.

There's plans for a 4th DLC too. Unofficially expected around August/September.

Just completed the game and got to level 37 on my hunter. Really fun game appart from the ending. Is it worth to do a second playthrough to level up to 50 or just better to buy the DLC and level up through that then get General Knoxx to get from 50-61?

As General Knoxx is a continuation on the main story line, I reckon the best idea would be to play Zombie Island for some more leveling. Then play General Knoxx after or at the end of playthrough 2. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what you do though as everything in the game scales to your level.

Mad Moxie's Underdome Riot doesn't allow you to level up, the only real reason to play it is if you like Horde style game play. You do get a 'bank' though for holding more equipment which is handy.

Just started playing this again now. Can someone confirm that when you equip a class mod, you have to have a point in the skill already before any mod + bonuses are active? I'm guessing this is the case as I have a mod which gives 8% extra shield but my shield has not increased and I don't have a skill point in the skill box which gives 8% shield increase.

yes, this happened to me too! It's not clear. It also doesnt state whether a +3 will stack on a skill that already has 3 points in it - i.e. will it go to 6 points?

I assumed not, but would be good to know.

Since posting, I found a Borderlands wiki.

1) You do have to have a point in a skill for a class mod skill bonus to take effect.
2) The bonuses do stack, so in your case Soapy, you would have +6.

OK. This is going to be a long shot.

When this game came out in October 2009, if you bought it from play.com for Xbox 360 and PS3, you got a code which enabled you to download the "Gearbox Mercenary Gun Pack" which was a collection of 8 guns to give you a bit of an advantage in the early game.

I've tried to download it again on the 360 but cannot find head nor tail of any mention in my download history. There are three instances of "Unknown Game / Unknown Offer" so whether it's one of those, I don't know.

i) Can anyone else who used the code see the item in their download history?
ii) Is there anyone out there who has an unused code for 360 that they want to part with? ;)

Cheers.

New downloadable content out now for anyone who enjoyed Borderlands.

Claptrap's New Robot Revolution.

Hoping to try it out for myself tonight :)

yea i heard its coming out the same time as the goty edition which i think includes all the dlc content and the game

Working through it at the moment. Its really funny having to fend off waves of killer Claptraps :p

And the Interplanetary Ninja Assassin Claptrap is awesome :D

Some nice areas to farm for loot as well.
