Whats a good new case to go for, or keep my eye out for?

Looking at a sugo 3 but, I hate that side panel. :P

Anything new on the horizon anyone? In an ideal world I'd love to go smaller.
Then theres that lian li v600 which holds a special place in my heart... with some modding (psu placement etc) it would be stunning.

Hmmm

Hi mate :D You can sell it back to me if you want when you find a new case :p

Bored of my water arangement honestly. Pump is audiable and sounds like a ******* drain. id preffer a tower design too, and the cd drive placement bugs me (pc section i nmy desk is about 2 inches wider than the case.. constantly having to move the case halfway out the desk) Plus my heart wants a v600 :P
And I think ive lost the side panel screws :( haha

Currently pondering if its worth getting a v6 modding the psu to the front and swapping to a new motherboard..

Get an SG03 like mine! ;D
Mod the side panel if you don't like it! - it Looks better in the flesh than in pics though, come check mine out some time :)

I wouldn't use the V350 as a main machine replacement. I'm after one for a HTPC alone. My main machine is in a P182 with plenty of space etc.

I got bored of mine too, so it's for sale in the MM. I ain't to fussy about this case. It was nice but alittle too plain. Good materials used though I must say!!!!

never really thought of itx tbh. I love my 4870 1gb though, could a 4850 power a 24inch? :/

hmmm... 200quid for a motherboard though?

Yeah - pricy! :(

Pretty much the only way to do it that small though.

I've used a 4850 @ 1920x1200 with no problems. Might have to lower some of the settings in the very newest games but should be ok with all others.

TBH i'd expect to see some announcements of new stuff (NV have already shown their 55nm parts) in the next 2 or 3 months.

Only real 'small' alternative is a shuttle. TBH they should be perfectly fine and should accommodate some slightly more serious GPU's.

Makes me cry :( lol

I dont think itx is the near future for me, not with the intensive stuff I do. I could see that itx getting toasty after a few days of rendering :D

New question:

if I do get a v600/similar should I think about a new mobo, maybe atx? Or should I stick with this giga 33m

Suppose it depends if you're happy with the features/clocking ability of your board?

Are you looking to clock your CPU much?

gt

P.S: I use an ITX HTPC system. It's in a Cubit Hoojum 3 case and consists of an intel fly creek mobo, e7200, 2gb DDR2, laptop HDD, laptop DVDRW. Running all day during testing it never skipped a beat and under 100% load didn't push over 45c using the stock cooler. It's happilly run for repeated 18hr sessions over a weekend.

mmmm got it to 3.6ish on here but wasnt happy with the heat on water (topping 80 :/)

I dont think the cpu is anything special in terms of clocks, and with uni I just need something stable that can push renders out. Used to sit at 3.4 easily enough though.

Features I couldn't give a hoot, it works :P I dont think I even have motherboard drivers installed as of (too busy getting it to a state where I can work so I can not fail uni!)

I'll leave it as is for now, cant be bothered with re installing vista again -.-haha

I'd just consider upgrading the chip for a cooler running unit then if you could - looks like some G33's run the newer 45nm quads. What's the exact model number of your mobo?

If you can use a 45nm chip then you'd probably get close to 4ghz while at the same time generating less heat.

For example - i used to run an overclocked e2160 which would reach 65c under water. The e8500 i have now @ 4ghz only reaches 37c or so. Both under water.

g33m ds2r - does 45nm too :)

oo it has onboard vga! >.> anyway.. just saw the prices of a new proc and well I think my q6 has a bit of life left ;)

mmj_uk was selling a q9450 for £150 on the MM - might not cost you too much after you sell the q6600. There's even another at £20 more than that one that's definately available now. ;) :D
