Boring tax question (purchasing a new car)

Good spot about the MOT mileage drop.

OP I would recommend getting a free app such as Vehicle Smart. You can use them to check MOT history such as mileage each year, failures and advisories. They help when assessing how qeel or poorly the car has been maintained. Plus the mileage drop

I use Total Car Check
gives more than any other app (usually) or websites

They are advertising it at 79k ‘warranted’ miles though. If it was just an MOT mistake then the seller would list it as 179k miles.

Ah good point then, I didn't bother checking the ad.

Would be a bad coincidence if the seller got it wrong as well! Needs a picture of the dashboard.

How do you misread the mileage on your own car by 100,000 miles? You might not know the exact number of miles your car has done, but you must know if you're off by such a long way.
It's propbably not a typo in the advert either because it's been entered in a couple of different places.
