Bosch legacy

To be fair, it’s not really like it’s a new series. In reality it’s Bosch season 8, it’s just got a new name for some reason; maybe with the move to IMDb tv?

If it maintains the quality of Bosch, then I’ll happily watch multiple seasons.

Bosch wasn't just about the main character though. It was about the interactions with his partner, team, other members of the police, his superiors and the people outside of that like the politicians and reporters. He was also working within the legal framework of the police.
That has changed now.
The entire precinct got closed
so we are not likely to see all those people again.
His daughter is a rookie police officer iirc and he is a PI. So its going to be a different show. Hes not going to have the resources or authority he had with a badge.

I’m not saying things haven’t changed but S7 ended with him becoming a PI and Maddie joining the academy. This picks up Harry working a case and
Maddie’s journey as a rookie. It’s not a spin off like a 20 years later when Maddie’s also a homicide detective. It’s a 6 months/12 months later scenario like they did between seasons on Bosch.

Sure he’s not a cop anymore so there’s less interactions with the force but it still follows Harry’s interactions as he investigates as we know he starts working as PI for Honey Chandler not to mention that J Edgar, Crate and Barrel etc. make appearances too. It’s just this will focusing more on Maddie though she started the feature more in the last couple seasons of Bosch anyway.

I have Prime, but apparently I can't watch this on my TV because when I open up Prime on the TV it tells me something like 'this device is unsuitable for a FreeVee subscription' or some such ********. That being said, have watched the first two episodes and am glad the quality is just as good as the original series.

Given Titus is still one of the producers, I expected it to be excellent, and indeed it is. Nice to see some old faces so far too. Roll on the last 4 episodes!

Bosch ranks up with Breaking Bad, The Wire and a few others for me. Completely driven by character development and drama. Someone watching Legacy without having seen previous series won't get the most out of shows like this, the same with Better call Saul vs no past experience of Breaking Bad - Will be enjoyable, but the backstory is pinnacle to getting the most out of the characters.

I'm about 5 episodes into this and something is missing, I think it's the lack of J Edgar maybe or just the background stories within the LAPD, i'm not finding Maddie or Money's scenes compelling or strong enough to keep the show going if Bosch isn't in them. Anything with Bosch in the scene is great as always, the background is just lacking badly. The brief chase scenes we've had with Maddie have been laughably bad too, felt very filler'ish.

Also, what the hell is going on with that new theme tune.

Overall it's still decent, it's just not as great as it was.

Yeah, not a fan of the opening credits but it’s otherwise just as good as the other series. There’s a comically bad bit of CGI in one of the episodes, not sure what they were thinking there.
