Bosch legacy

Called...

undercover FBI woman to a friend the first episode she showed up, blindingly obvious.

One episode to go, still nowhere near actual Bosch quality without the supporting police characters, Maddie and Honey are weak sauce but an improvement on S1 so far.

I am eight episodes into S2 of Bosch Legacy, Maddie is an unlikeable character.

Every bad guy in LA knows Bosch's address. I do enjoy the series despite my rants - it's getting to be too personal, e.g. the main characters are followed, targeted, burgled, kidnapped etc. Maddie is supercop and solves every crime etc.

Seems to be a wide consensus on here that the maddie character is unlikeable, which I agree on. Looks entirely unconvincing as a 7 stone cop. So one assumes that's a reasonable representation of wider opinion. It is amazing therefore how the show runners kept her.

I think they actually made a bad decision in having Bosch leave the police, there was a body of likeable and believable supporting characters in the police station.

When they started giving a lot of time to the hacker (Mo) + this friend that appeared out of nowhere, it grinded a lot with me as it appeared like unnecessary filler. I understand the attempt to make Mo a more substantial character, given that at this time it's basically just bosch, Maddie, and the Honey. But those scenes did drag a lot.

Finally got around to watching s2 yesterday, felt like 2 different shows with the first 2 episodes with the Maddie plot then the rest, was great seeing Lance again and reminded me how much presence he has.

One of the weaker seasons but overall still kept that Bosch feel, roll on s3 if we get it.

from what I understand Season 3 has already been greenlighted before season 2 started airing and that it was in preproduction phase.

Third season going to be the final for Legacy, spin offs are in the works with other characters.
I knew spin-offs were coming; especially the Renee Ballard but to lose Bosch as the main character feels short-sighted to me. Titus Welliver plays the role perfectly and I really wish the producers would keep a series with Bosch as the lead going. I have read some of Connelly's books featuring Ballard and I know Bosch will feature so let's see how it pans out.

Am hoping thats not it for Bosch, its the kind of character that can age gracefully .

Also feels like the kind of series they dont have to do yearly and could put out a mini series every x years, other than Bosch's house theres no real sets that need saving.

Yep. None of the Bosch series were yearly were they? A couple of years between? I wonder if the Bosch series has suffered from being produced by Amazon at a time when Amazon's gone on a spree of producing lots of shows and then having less money to spend on shows? Even with the move to ad channels for Bosch and increased Prime TV fees, it feels like Bosch has too many siblings competing for the same budget?

Not far off, 1st to 2nd season of Bosch was 2 years from 2014 to 2016, but after that a series a year , Bosch from 2014 to 2021, Legacy in 2022 and 2023, with another Legacy this year, so its been pretty consistant even during the pandemic.
