Bottle Necking Issue

Humbug any reason you haven't mastered offset voltage, and enabled cool and quiet.
I've been overclocking amds for years this way, just wondered why you disabled all the energy features and just stick a constant v-core through it?

More stable when benching.:D:cool::D

Dude honestly if you're running a 990FXA UD5 and you don't have an 8 core FX in it you need slapping with a wet fish :D

Seriously, sort it out !

I would go for 1600mhz ram. Ram is very, very important when you start to crank on the FSB as the offset pours over into the memory. Though you can adjust the ram offset to counteract it though...

I gotta say I love overclocking on 990. It's so much more fun than my X79.

But yeah, I would get rid of that 6100 and get an FX 8320 in there. Don't go for a higher model, they're all a rip off. AMD are now all out binning their chips for 5ghz (they recently released a lower priced 9590 or whatever they're called) and chips that won't do 5ghz on the low volts they want them on are repackaged as 8350s and 8320s.

Yes give me chance i buy a part each month , i only got the 2nd R9 270 last week , the SSHD the month before ... you get the idea ... i add bits to it when i can afford it and the CPU has done well till now so i think i have done it in the right order

Fixed voltage here too, doesn't make a massive difference in power costs. That and using offset or adaptive voltage on haswell leads to serious overvoltage under certain stress test programs.

^ A quick lesson in volting your ram with an Asus AM3 board. Note how he had terrible issues with the board there. I'd bet my house that he volted the memory, then had a long hard fight trying to stabilize the overclock.

I had the exact same issue. After three days of fighting I gave in and set the board back to optimised defaults. Then, I guess, by the grace of god, I forgot to volt the ram and everything was good in the world.

I have an 8350 on a H80i with a small OC to 4.42 and have been running it like this for over 18 months.

What Idle temp and 100% usage temp plz ?

This sounds sad but i like the H105 because i can have a red face piece , matches case theme

Case XpredatorX3 Red/Black

<< FX-8 Eight Core 8350 >>
<< FX-8 Eight Core 8320 >> Cheapest

£20/$34 difference in price so apart from the basics like clock speeds and single core performance and 8350 is more popular for overclocking , why the price difference ? is the 8350 just an overclocked version or is it based on a different line of FX

Google just seems to find me the useless consumer blab or Clock speed comparisons

i am loving this Forum by the way ,its distracting me from writing a new CV though :)

Hey guys just sharing this for a laugh, got my laptop back off my sister as it was running slow i have had this thing since 2007 and got me through soo much in college, check out these temperatures after a new install of windows 7 (orignally Vista yuck)
