Appreciate the update after a busy shift DJ - though I was somewhat surprised to finish my shift and find I've no points . . . . . .

  • Thrapple - Definitions
  • noun: the throat or windpipe

Collins English Dictionaries Link

It's also the same beer I used for the same round in BOTWMK3 and I got points for that . . . . . .

And on that note, apologies and thanks for clearing it up. 5pts

Edit: You maybe included an explanation then :p Points sorted.

Thanks for the work DJ!

I think that Ahleckz shouldn't be penalised for the swearing either, his should be a valid entry.

Beaver???

EDIT: Just googled the name :D I don't think that redacted word should be counted. We've already taken a dictionary definition for one entry, what about this one? Would count for Z I assume.

My take on this.

Ahleckz - 0pts Bute Brew Co. **** Up Your Beaver (This would be fine for Round X) Correct contains a sweary that needed editing, its not round X
Feek - 0pts ****faced (This would be fine for Round X) Correct contains a sweary that needed editing, its not round X and I actually saw this beer and considered it :)
Kuros - 0pts K*ntish Town Beard Weird Beard (Beard is a feature, not a part) Correct, not an actual body part
Maccy - 0pts Hogs Back Brewery co. T-E-A (Not beer name) Correct, Not a beer name
Sonea_Fifer - 0pts Inveralmond Brewery Thrappledouser ( I don't even...) I remember BOTWMK3 H round having a few questions raised, but If he got points in BOTWMK3 then should get them this time IMO

I agree.

With the definition of Thrapple I agree with the points awarded too.

I've already said that I agree with the comments above about Kuros, Maccy and Sonea_Fifer.

I still disagree with mine and Ahleckz entries and here's why. All rounds have a theme but that theme isn't exclusive to each individual round. For example, round Z is the animal round ("Any beer with an animal in its name") but that doesn't mean I can't submit a beer in another round that has an animal in its name, providing that entry also meets the requirements of the other round. Just because there's a round with a specific theme, that doesn't mean that theme can't be used in a different round.

Ahleckz used slang for two body parts, slang wasn't excluded which is why I think it should be valid. Mine had a sweary in but also contained "face" which I think is not only covered by the question and answer I posted above but also by Sonea_Fifer's explanation of his beer which has his body part as part of a single word (Thrappledouser).

/edit!!! I've just looked at the brewery page for Thrappledouser and the description says it's a Scottish word: " Ever wondered where we got the name Thrappledouser from? It was very simple really. We took the Scots’ word for throat and wove it with a term for slaking or dousing your thirst. I suppose a straight translation into English would be thirst quencher.". The dictionary link above also confirms that it's a Scottish word. Our rules say no foreign languages so technically, it should be a zero pointer! Your original decision was correct.

And that's all I have to say on the matter, I've posted my reasons why two of the zero pointers should be scored and now I'm off to bed, having just had my I beer and then a large tot of rum :)

Slang would help me out for X rated though. We've had a couple of illegal 'Beavertown' clubs closed down in Leeds in recent years :D

The idea that my entry is valid is invalid is ridiculous.

Never once was it said that we aren't allowed slang. A "****" is quite clearly a human body part, especially in my beer reference.

The simple fact that we have a round which bends the rules of the forum justifies my entry.

I'd be very disappointed if my entry didn't stand. There hasn't been a single suggestion that my entry would break any rules. You can't have a vote after the fact to suggest "slang" shouldn't be allowed.

Likewise, Feek's entry is completely valid.

Finally, I'd just like to add that my word was another word for Penis. I fully accept that the word "beaver" as a euphemism for the female love hole would be clutching at straws but my 4 letter word referencing a penis beginning with c and ending in k is fair. In my humble opinion...
