Saw one of these identical to yours on the way to work today :) 12 plate too.

Nice, what do you think of the road presence? Other than the show rooms I have only ever seen the car 2 or 3 times in the wild and only then it was just a glimps!

Been told they look like a new mustang on the road?! That can't be right?

Just back!

Worst rain storm I have ever driven through in this country, parts of the A11 were like a lake!

Got the train down on Friday, had to snap a picture of the Olympic Stadium.

Ancaster Nissan in Bromley this morning.

My GT-R!

~150 Miles later at home

Hovis :p (see the paint protection film in this picture)

Not 100% happy with the paint protection film but I am told it can take 2-3 weeks for the glue to cure and for the air to escape through the material.
If I am still not happy with something the guy who did it will replace it for free so that is good I guess. (http://www.valetmagic.com/)

As for the car, I have no words for how much I love it, its crazy. Can't really do much until 600 miles, around 200 on the clock now and not ment to go over 3,500rpm, the engine is already run in but the gearbox, clutch and diffs need time before you can use it. Also the shocks need time to fully bed in so running COMF mode which is a little soft and bouncy at speed.

Got loads of nice things given too me including the GTR Floor mats, GTR Key Ring, GTR Mug, GTR iPhone Case, GTR Rugby Shirt and a full tank of 99 :D

Managed to get just under 30MPG on the way home so still 3/4 of that tank left

Need to go and play with the onboard computer settings and then look at it some more

I know the pictures are bad (4S camera in bad weather) and the car is dirty! Will try and do better tomorrow!

Most importantly, did you feel like an excited 10 year old pulling out of the dealership?

Well I don't know the area at all (the Sat Nav in this thing great!) its a pretty big car with not amazing visibility and I just didn't want to hit anything or make a fool of myself.

Was so excited last night that I woke up at 4AM and sat watching Olympics channel with nothing on until I left at 9:30 for the dealership!

Its not really sunk in yet that I own the car, brb need to go and check on it.

Awesome. Great colour

Hopefully the paint protection will tighten up a bit to remove the orange peel effect. That would really irritate me on a brand new car!

Yeah that is what I am told, if it gets better it won't bother me since I know the job its doing and I am not OCD at cleaning my car, just don't want it chipped.

Can always have it taken off and get a full detail polish done.

Very Very Nice. I bet it sounds it too (when you can fully use it atleast)

Out of interest, how long did it take from you ordering the car to collection?

Thanks, I ordered on the 20th of July and the car was ready to pick up on the 29th, one with the colours I wanted was already on route for general Nissan UK stock but I had to wait for the paint protection guy and also for free time to get it.

Great plate aswell!

Cheers! I did want JP12 GTR but was already gone, AR officially means Anglia and Norwich so that will do, was 400 quid via DVLA.

Beautiful car! Great colour too. I bet you can't wait until it's done 600 miles.

Not too sure on the red parts in the interior though.

Yeah the red parts are the only bit I would change if there was more options, the Premium seats which are solid Black or Grey are not as snug a fit as the Recaro which only come with the Red bits.
Premium seats are very popular in the USA btw ;)

Yeah the red is bright on mine, just bad pictures!
I will wash it and try and get an SLR or at least a good compact tomorrow.

I gave the car a wash used the snow foam but used too much soap in the water bucket and now have soap stains dried on the car. I really suck at cleaning cars!
Tried to rinse it off with some RO water but was too slow as the sun was out.
Going to have to use some polish to clean it but its now absolutely chucking it down outside.

Still it looks awesome from a few feet away but up close can see the stains.

I will update with some better pictures when I can.

What an immense purchase!

I have penis fizz.

:)

You got it? When I went in the demo car with the GT-R Specialist driving it was crazy, that James May fizz definitely is a real thing! Never felt acceleration like it in anything.

Nice Datsun.

Thanks ;)

So what RPM does it sit at in top gear at 70-85? I'd imagine about 2k? As you're not allowed to go over 3.5k, I just wondered what you were driving at on the 150 miles. :)

3.5k in 6th is at least 90 I think. The car doesn't cruise that well at 70, the sweet spot for noise and vibration is between 80 and 90 (Was told this at the dealer). I was trying to keep it under 80 but did have a few little bursts. Its so hard though to keep it under 3.5k. Especially when someone in a Z4 with a loud exhaust pulls up next to you trying to show off

Went out this morning to show my brother and he was saying how fast it was and how it pushed his head back but I didn't even go over 3k
He will get a shock once its run in!

If it is relatively clean, rather than polish try some quick detailer to get rid of the soap stains.

I have this Werkstat Acrylic Kit and went over it with the acrylic glos but it still needs another wash and use the prime and jet products to remove the rest of the marks.

I know I am going to end up with swirl marks even using snow foam and then two buckets with a good mitt so I will end up taking it for a full detail after I get it serviced.

Incredible cars,

Whats the second hand market like on these? i mean is it possible to pick up a good one, or is it a bit like the M5's where its likely to be a nail over certain miles

You can pick up a good 09 for with less than 20k on it for under 40 grand then get all your servicing done by Litchfield, they will even do a warranty for a grand a year and cover any mods done by them where the extended nissan one is well over two grand and doesn't cover mods.

I wouldn't want to run the car without a warranty even if it was 100% stock with all the Nissan TSB/recall upgrades!

Sorry for no updates guys!

Been crazy busy with work (Solar PV stuff ;))

Put 1000 miles on it and will be going to get the first service done soon so I can use the R Start :D

I have tested the GoPro but when watching back the video it was so boring just driving around getting stuck behind things that nobody would want to see it.

I also have had a few dreams about owning the GTR, driving it and all the controls being really unresponsive and weird. Pushing the brakes so hard but nothing happens. It was freaky!

As for living with it, I hate parking it, not just the actual parking (the front sticks out way more than you would think) but then leaving it with other cars and people. I worry too much.
Driving it is fantastic, I love going from relaxed relative comfort of auto to wild loud mental jet plane acceleration with the flick of a switch. It makes silly speeds feel safe and slow.

I still need to take some good pictures but every time I think about it the car is filthy, ill see what I can do tomorrow depending on the weather.

I would have thought this would have been its biggest downfall. Do you get much opportunity to really stretch it's legs? Does it feel particularly rewarding to do so?

Are you thinking about any upgrades?

The rush from a first gear roll to whatever I stop at ;) is worth every penny.

It is an overtaking monster and sure I am no Jenson Button (he got his from my relative also) but I still feel like I am getting a good amount out of it around the bends. With the VDC in normal mode you can still get some slip but then it stops you from doing anything stupid which I personally love as I don't want it to loose traction in the first place.
It is really nice driving around knowing there is not much that is faster on the road.

As for upgrades, I think midpipe and cobb tune is as far as I will go, mainly for gearbox rom upgrades and I would like to try boost off the line. Much more power around the roads where I live would be suicide.

Only just remembered this thread. And i remembered how much i love the colour. Everyone else seems to have either got black or grey (yawn), with a few getting white. Don't think i've ever seen any other colour. But Daytona Blue looks fantastic.

Just for you ;)

I gave it a quick wash with snow foam and a rinse with RO water, no time for two bucket and drying!
So here are some wet pictures with an SLR that I borrowed and have no idea how to use so everything was on Auto .

A lot of GTR owners find the car extremely capable but ultimately the driving experience can be dull, they don't find the car special. They do enjoy the in-gear acceleration and launch but after a while that doesn't feel special any more so they look for more power to make their car special again. This video explains it much better:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqxPdK8GrPA#t=33m50s

I think that is really the american market on their big open roads everything feels slow, drive it round some nice country A roads in the UK and the grip you get is insane, the cornering and braking g-force is as fun as the acceleration.

It is a great car for people without high driving ability who need something that feels very exciting and wild under them that will kick your ass if you make a tiny mistake.

Seen what Chris Harris says about it in this video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8jLbyNloCg

I really like how the engine bay is sealed both top and bottom so air can only get in and out through the vents and ducting. This means on a cold day when the engine is hot the bonnet nostril vents snort hot air like a bull. It looks pretty cool.

As for the lack of gas struts, you can get after market ones but they are slim to fit (look at the lack of space where they would go when closed) so it makes the bonnet a bit wobbly when open.

You are absolutely right of course. It is a shame that the focus on the GTR seems to be upon its impressive drivetrain whereas the chassis equally impressive.

I'm glad that you are enjoying the car and driving it as was intended. Have you though of doing any trackdays to explore its limits?

Your car looks great. The colours of the wheel, brake calliper and body really compliment each other. Very jealous :p

Thanks, I would love to do some track driving, I think I would like to do it in an instructors car first though to get used to driving on a track with other cars about before worrying about doing it in my own car.

Just a question of finding the time and place!

Update!

For those that didn't go to the RR day here are the details:

I decided to send my car to SVM (http://severnvalleymotorsport.co.uk/) for the following:

SVM 80mm intakes (allows greater MAF resolution for tuning)
SVM 1050cc injectors (stock are 570cc and max out at around 580bhp)
SVM 102mm full de-cat exhaust system (stock is very restrictive and has 4 cats)
SVM Gearbox cir-clips upgrades (means I can launch is as much as I like without the stock cir clips slipping off the shafts and the gears falling off in the box!)
Cobb Access Port w/ TCM - Tuned on Shell V-Power 99RON by Ben Linney at GTC (Ben is the Jedi Master of GTR tuning)
