Bought a phone off eBay: would you say this is in "excellent condition"?

I can't quite see that image, can you make it bigger?

EDIT that's better

If those are scratches in the first image then no, I wouldn't say that's excellent condition.

Is it just marks that wipe off, in which case it's excellent condition.

If it's scratches/marks that dont rub off then of course it's no excellent condition.

The cosmetic damage on the back alone wouldn't be unacceptable for a used phone but if and in combination with the scratches on the front if they look like that when viewed from normal usage angles I wouldn't call excellent condition.

Nope, and the description wasn't accurate either if he didn't list those artifacts.

Should have asked for better images though, if you had any doubts.

Send it back. No one is ever going to agree that amount of screen marking is acceptable for something in "excellent" condition. Apart from the seller of course.

Only one image of it and upside down none the less and questionable DoF on the image so you can't see the quality of the item plainly either... I'd have been questioning that one personally.

No the marks don't wipe off. They're permanent.

Here is the listing.

Blatently taken the picture of the back of phone to hide the scratches on the front.

I would start by contacting the seller for a partial refund or full refund and you send the phone back. Or start taking it through the claim procedure.

I've already raised a case and the seller is obviously denying it. He's going to take a look at the photos again when he gets home.

Apparently I can ask eBay to "step in" shortly but not just yet.

Never normally have any troubles with eBay but this is seriously making me reconsider it ever again.

Back of the phone lol. The guy knew that it wasn't. Only seeing the back of a used phone would have been a massive alert sign to me. Gotta be careful man.

I think you have a good shot with ebay, but they will make you two discuss it and come to a resolution first. I think when I had a problem they wouldn't step in until 14 days? Can't quite remember, the guy I was having issues with took the item back as soon as I escalated it though (must have known he was gonna lose anyone once ebay stepped in.)

Excellent condition with a scratch on the glass? Ha. There's a reason the seller had only 1 picture and it was a blurry pic of the back of the phone. What a sly bugger.

Atleast with just that picture they'll have a hard time claiming the buyer did it. Seems like a chancer so make sure you do everything by the book - don't take up any offers to settle outside the system, make sure you send it back properly tracked/recorded as appropriate - wouldn't surprise me if the try and pull a fast one to try and claim off the courier or something (they might even claim yet it was "damaged" in transit on its way to you but atleast that way you wouldn't lose out).

Also take photos of the whole phone, back, front, insides and in return packing. Also of any tracking details and parcel.

It's just not ebay though, it can be anywhere.

It's a shame that people just can't be straight an upfront on the condition of the item, recall a recent incident on the MM where the guy was listing an xbox is as excellent, like new and the pictures that the buyer put up showed a very different story. In the end it just wastes everyones time.

Good luck getting this sorted out!
