Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

Isn't for me?

nam I'm not actually sure, something I will confirm with my insurer when it's ready to go back on the road.

Probably not the next meet but certainly the Feb one :p

The colour will be a match as I'm paying extra to do the rest of the car at the same time so all panels will have the same paint thickness and shade.

I was supposed to be trying to arrange one, but I don't want to go to a meet with a destroyed clutch because the driving tends to get spirited... :p

So I'll pick that up when my clutch has been replaced... :D

Let's not get too silly now ;)

Evolve cf intake kit ordered, 599 with Cutters discount. Roof down drives are going to be even better now

I knew after I took you out in mine and your face as I opened it up from the CSL air box you'd be spicing up that induction roar at some point.

For me the M3 is all about induction, one of the best induction sounds of any car, forget exhaust on them as they all sound raspy and broken, keep the stock exhaust and focus purely on the induction side.

The Evolve kit is nice, good power gains as well if you go with their map for it, but its not quite the roar of the CSL box.

Now you've sourced the exhaust, have you considered asking BMW to exclude it from the invoice and get the price down to where you need it? Would avoid CAT D marker and result in a decent deal all round...

Good job, well done. It really makes a very nice noise and I can't believe they didn't exploit the nice induction noise of the S54 even a little bit in the standard M3. The thing that I found annoying before I bought it was that all the videos of the Eventuri showed people blasting up to 8krpm, where the difference in noise between stock airbox and Eventuri is really very little. The absolute best sounds come within 2krpm-5krpm.

Top down, 25c, sun and going down a street with buildings either side will be divine.

With the evolve kit would you still heatsoak?

The heatsoak is minimal if at all. From the results of their testing, IIRC I think it came down a few degrees difference.

There is a neoprene lined steel plate separating it from the rest of the engine bay and a very well made CF scoop from next to the foglight which blasts air up into the airbox.

Yup even the stick induction noise at 2 to 5krpm is pretty good, the cf box is just much rawer :D

I haven't planned the remap yet but I figure the next time in in Luton I'll drop by Evolve to get it done. May as well go the whole way rather than just the intake, even though just it alone gives a small increase in power and smoothness from what I've read.

Even I might be tempted to get that kit at 600ish (600 from there site), only thing putting me off really is any warranty claims with the car as I am still waiting to hear back from BMW UK about the issue I have with it at the moment.
