Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

30 minutes to walk to work and walk around 5 miles a day combined, and use the ferry, or an hour or more to drive to work and sit through traffic, guess what I'd rather do :p

£20 of fuel would last me a month!

Obviously that was in the 318, that figure has increased slightly :p

my commute can vary wildly, depending on my coffee requirements, it can be anything from 0-11 metres :p

But I do regularly go stir crazy with cabin fever

Classic :D

So Autoglass just turned up, guy unpacked the new windscreen from his van, prepped it all, got the moudling out... they've supplied the wrong moulding so will have to be re-booked for another day.

I took a half day at work today to accommodate for their rather wide 3-8PM arrival time

Heh. Just had a call from their head office, re-booked for bank holiday Monday coming up.

3rd time lucky? :p

Edit*

Well, social networking can be a good thing I suppose!

Sadly Autoglass is what my insurer uses as I have windscreen cover on my policy so must use them in order to be covered. The last guy did say they were closing their branches and going mobile only too, shame!

But... but the stone chips! Will somebody think of the stone chips :o

Cheers skaif, shame the weather didn't hold up for longer, I was planning on top downing it home but glad I didn't heavy rain soon as I hit the motorway with nowhere close to stop and let the roof up - Dodged a bullet there!

Not telling ner ner!

337.7 BHP :p

Just uploading my run video and graph screenshot as well as some car pics I managed to take for the RR thread now :)

I think whenever the next motors meet (non rr) one is will be ideal for photos, tends to be in more picturesque locations and such like so great for cool photo ops!

So Autoglass dispatch office phoned earlier, the glass the man in the van was waiting to pick up before heading my way didn't get delivered to the warehouse, so they have to re-book the re-booked appointment...

The good will gesture better be worth this tedious nonsense.

Yeah I figure the transition stage will take some time, still, it shouldn't be so ill managed that it affects customers who have took time out of their schedules and work for a pre-booked appointment - Twice in a row!

Oh? TBH autocorrect/predict inserted the "have" - I didn't care enough to backtrack and edit it out.

Edit*

Just dropped off the car to mate's body shop for front end respray. It will be with him for at least 3 days as it's gotta have bumper/wings off for the job etc. Also getting the boot lid done as I accidentally scratched it with the end of the pressure washer recently, boo.

Inb4 "lol respray".

I know only too well how frustrating it is being one of the guys on the other end of things. Trouble is because of the way things are changing there's no "tidy" way of doing things for the lack of a better word. It's a complete logistical nightmare

You'd have thought they would have planned this all well in advance!

I have a free Spotify account but have specific randomised playlists set up so tend to just stream that via my phone (BT) to the Parrot's built in bluetooth music player. The Parrot's Market version of Spotify isn't the latest but it does do the job alright. 95% of the music I have is played back from the phone direct though. I do not use Deezer.

I have rooted the Asteroid btw, it's got Google Play Store on there with various other apps not avaialble on the Asteroid Market but are on Play Store.

Over all I am rather impressed with the unit. I have improved its multitasking performance by upping the allocated RAM to 2GB via a fast SD card and RamExpander app. I switch between Waze and Music/other apps often so it's nice having the faster response when doing all this.

If the future of the updated Android Auto model wasn't an unknown then I'd have not bothered with all the tweaking, but as it stands, I may as well keep this for a lot longer as everything just works fine.

So Autoglass guy turned up today, weather is great and am glad I chose the afternoon time slot as it was pants in the morning...

4th time lucky eh... the guy said it might have had to have been a re-booking today as it didn't get delivered to the warehouse when he went in the morning to collect it so went off to do another job. It got delivered during then and he went all the way back to pick it up. It's the same guy who came the first time round so he knew the hassle I'd been through.

And while I was faffing with the plates this morning:

NoFrontPlate.jpg

on one hand it looks much cleaner and nicer with no tax disc and no front plate (to me), but I agree with some others that it looks a bit empty down there... Or maybe we're just too used to front plates over here :o

Sadly it only stays clean and fresh for a maximum of 2 days before even the slightest whisker or moisture and wind carry all kinds of crap on to the body making it visibly dirty!

Silver was such a pain free colour lol :o

Today I used a razor blade and claybar to clean the side windows. Running my fingers along them I could feel micro-crap, like how it feels before you clay your paint. The razor got 99% of it away better than the claybar alone could, the claybar finished the job off nicely. I know it's just glass, but it's amazing how much surface film develops on them over the years.

Here's what the clay picked up post-razoring on one window:

I've also noticed that the Autoglass guy didn't fit the plastic trim that sits on the underside of the windscreen completely flush (it's making windscreen contact on the left and right edges but as you get to the centre it isn't making contact, there's about 2-3mm of gap so water channels through the gap). Does anyone know if this piece is something I can take off myself and re-fit properly without damaging the windscreen seal down there? tell you what, Autoglass aren't doing themselves any favours...
