Boxing Day Footie *spoilers be inside*

This is probably a silly question but as Drogba got booked there, he's now got 5 cards this season and misses the next league game. If the Ivory Coast are knocked out of the ACON early does he return to Chelsea straight away or do all participants return when the ACON is over? I'm just wondering what league game he now misses.

Won't he just be suspended for Chelsea's next game anyway?

If not then you've got to assume that he'll come straight back once they're out.

How the hell did they pull that off!

Great stuff though, back-to-back wins before the game against the Toon! Going to watch, haven't been to Home Park for a while, should be fun :D
Haven't been since I was 15 but always look out for their results. Was looking bad a few days ago so hope they can keep this little run up to get them out of trouble.

It seems a pretty pointless punishment if the player wasn't going to be playing the game anyway.

I'm not 100% sure that's the case, just can't think how they'll arrange it otherwise.

I suppose it would be no different from Masch serving his suspension while he's injured now.

Technically Mascherano can be named on the teamsheet or bench despite being injured whereas Drogba can't be selected at all. I reckon he'll miss the first game he can play when he returns otherwise it makes punishment redundant.

Wonder what it'd be like if a player serving a suspension had to be named on the teamsheet but obviously can't play - would make it a bit more fun especially when a team has 4-5 suspensions :p

I've just confused myself. :p My last post is null and void. :p

Are teams allowed to name less than he permitted amount of substitutes, or must all spots be filled?
