Boxing Day Footie *spoilers be inside*

Haha, some of you seem to be choking on that and I love it.

Gotta laugh at someone from Swindon I think it was suggesting that Liverpool are a joke of a club! I wonder who that person supports? Just for you sir, Liverpool are the greatest club this land has ever had or ever will have.

Think rafa needs to get rid of Dossena/Voronin first least degan is better than them two. anyway back to topic we beat villa yay :D weve actually managed two wins in a row :D

Of all the teams that can break into the top 4, i'd love to see Villa in there.

All the doom and gloom and if Liverpool win at Tottenham... where will the doom and gloom be then for Liverpool?

The fact that we're talking about the importance of beating Villa and Spurs to qualify for the CL rather than challenge for the title is why it's all doom and gloom :)

Villa are unlikely to break the big four because since they got high in the table they've adopted little team mentality. Spurs were just crap against Arsenal but they came to win, just failed miserably. Villa come to draw, or not lose against the bigger teams. In their best period , 1st half of last season, they were so good because they just attacked, everyone, there were a few losses but they were great. Then they got 4th, got Heskey, panicked and played defensive and didn't win in 13 games or something stupid.

THey are doing the same this year, against Spurs they went and barely got out of their half, they have a strong defence but their real strength is the counter attack, which they refused to push up in numbers in support for against Spurs. Yes they got the lucky early goal but sat on that goal the entire game. At Arsenal it was the same story, we weren't fantastic, Villa came to sit in their own half and maybe try and catch us on the break late in the game like they tried against liverpool, a superb Cesc performance knocked the stuffing out of them and when they tried to push forward, left themselves more open.

But you can't expect to move up with that small team mentality. When they invited the pressure Liverpool had the posession, but created next to nothing the entire game. THe second Villa started to press forwards, finally they were all over Liverpool and looked far more dangerous, its their unwillingness to play the whole game like that which will prevent them finishing in the top 4. Its a shame, if they played like they did later on in the game, I would have thought it would turn into a win for them.

Downing was terrible throughout though, awful delivery, poor closing down, no energy, poor passing, one great chance he was on the end of and shot at the only part of the goal it could be saved.

Yeah him and Masch have been by far the best. And even if I dont like saying it, Lucas has been way better than most of the others too.

Cant agree - Masch has been shocking all season - reckless tackles, especially outside the box, awful passing. He can only pass it sideways. Its a blessing in disguise he is injured - if we can get > £20 million for him (seems unlikely now) then we should sell him.

Lucas has been far better than him - his passing is sharper and hes trying to run forward with the ball - something Masch doesnt do well. Masch was great last season but i thnk now is the right time to sell.

Why oh why did we let Hyypia go?? Martin Scrotal is an awful awful payer - cannot defend to save his life and so reckless - we are shocking at defending from set pieces and he goes in with one of the worst challenges this season on ?Warnock on the edge of the box...

Voronin / Skrtel need to go. Kuyt isnt playing well - maybe rafa should try degen / Johnson (if fit) combination on the right? I think Johnson would do great on the wing.

That whole paragraph is a joke. Seems a few Liverpool supporters haven taken a massive dislike to him because they expect him to leave for Barca and you're one of them.

Difference between Villa and Liverpool was Torres, Arsenal controlled the game vs Villa but ultimately Fabregas made the difference, Rooney made the difference vs Hull, all in the last few days. I suppose Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea all have a few of those players each and that's what gets them the extra points every season. Villa, Spurs and Man City don't really have those world class players who you often need to get a win when it seems unlikely
