Injury being added to insult, the Russian who was awarded the decision against Conlon will not fight in his semifinal match, as he is too injured to continue in the contest...

Even without fighting he will gain a bronze medal.

It would appear the dodgy judges from the two wrong decision fights have been sent home, and will take no further part in this contest.
The amateur authority said they will likely take Conlon to court if he can't produce evidence of corruption.
They stated some fights decisions did not come up to standard.

The results, althought not uo to standard, therefore wrong, will stand.

I don't get it. If the judges were sent home, which in itself is obviously an admittance of getting it wrong, why isn't the result overturned? Clearly sending them home means they got it wrong, ie, Conlon was the correct winner. They should still give Conlon a gold medal, even if they don't take it away from the winner (loser).

They are suggesting their result was faulty, not corrupt. They won't fix mistakes, as is their choice. Each sport has its own body, only a positive drugs test would remove an athlete post result I believe.

It stinks. Utterly.

Brilliant, Joe Joyce wins on points and in the final. Gold or silver guaranteed in the super heavies.

In the final 30 seconds or so both of them looked almost out on their feet - very well fought by Joe Joyce not to panic after being down in the first round to take the next two rounds pretty comfortably. I've got to say I'm not a great fan of the new scoring system generally though as it is much more subjective than registering hits scoring.

Might be rose tinted spectacles, but does anyone else feel that the new scoring system has pushed the boxers toward just windmilling through fights rather than the previously more scientific approach of picking their shots?

The computer scoring encouraged a more technical approach. Now it's more like low-end pro fighting :(

Not watched Joyce before but he reminds me of Dillian Whyte. Lots of clubbing hurtful shots but not much speed, accuracy or combination punching. Got lots of energy and heart though.
