Boxing

I don't know much about boxing at all but it definitely seemed to me that Joyce was much more aggressive and although not landing a very high proportion of good shots, the French guy didn't show much at all. Shame really.

That could've gone 2-1 either way imo. Joyce was more aggressive and threw the more powerful shots but he didn't connect with much and looked a very limited boxer. The French guy was blocking most of his shots, had the cleaner punches and actually showed some degree of boxing skill.

Was a close fight and a split decision was probably right but a blatant fix it was not.

Had the GB lad winner there too, he was far stronger and never once looked in trouble, whereas his opponent was hurt a couple of times. Another round or two and the French lad would have been on the canvass.

Not overly impressed with any of the boxing, tbh.

30-27 from one of the judges though? No chance did Joka win all three of the rounds although I suppose it might depend on the viewing angle to an extent. It's nowhere near as questionable as the Michael Conlon fight but I don't think it was the right result here.

With the scoring system as it is and it's all pretty subjective since there's no tally of hits made I'd have had Joyce edging the fight 2-1 on rounds as I think he was better first and last rounds with the second round being potentially scored to Joka. I'd also say I think Joka was closer to being in trouble than Joyce was during the fight as although he blocked many of the punches he did look a bit unsteady on a couple of occasions.
