Boxter 3.2S or Z4 3.0?

that one has only had a couple of basic mods and it is peaking at 4-4.5k, just where you need it. If you want something that screams its **** off at stupid revs get VTEC yo

classic 20vt 'diesel' power delivery there

Any input would be appreciated...
My spec is as follows:
AGU Engine Code 1.8T
VR6 clutch and lightened ABF single mass flywheel
18" wheels with 225/40/18 Tyres
80mm piping into standard airbox (not smoothed)
Pipercross dry foam air filter
Standard MAF with mesh removed
Standard AUM TIP
K03s Turbo with silencer
Forge 007P
N75J valve
Greddy 50mm intercooler piping
ATP quicktap to N75
Forge silicon hose joiners
Godspeed FMIC core (9"x24"x2 3.4")
Standard throttle body rubber pipe
Standard throttle body cleaned with carb cleaner
Standard Injectors
3.0 Bar FPR
3" THS downpipe
3" to 2.5" Decat/straight pipe
2.5" Milltek mid section resonator
2.5" Milltek Mk4 Golf rear box
Custom Code phase 2 remap

nice diesel

i havent driven a diesel that has a torque spike between 3k and 4k rpm, I think you'll find its more like 1.5k to 2.5k

that has a k03s turbo, they don't hold torque at higher revs

do yuo want me to find you plots of a mk1 golf with a BAM engine (therefore ko4). same lame delivery

i didnt say the 20vt revs the same as a diesel, i said it delivers its power like a diesel. spike then limp

maybe it makes owners feel great that they can get the front wheels to scrabble at low revs or something?

at the end of the day though, they do deliver the goods. i got the tweaked a3 to 60 in 6.3s.

the engine is as thrilling as a mug of luke warm water, but it does a job. hence, i dont beleive it would be much fun in an elise (ie something revvy and fun requred)

is 6.5k peak classed as diesel power delivery? and it's only pushing 265bhp so it's not like it's been modded to within an inch of its life. People just have to know how to keep the boost coming, boost valves being one of the main players.

6.3 is pretty slow for a tweaked 1.8t tbh, but if it had quattro I suppose the extra weight slows it down.

I found the 1.8T to perform well but sound about as interesting as Morba.

as standard they've tried to make them as quiet as possible for some strange reason, pretty easy to get grunt out of them though.

can't beat the sound of intake grunt combined with turbo whine and a dump valve whoosh

Oooohhh interesting thread :)
I am just asking myself exactly the same question once I sell my westfield.
Now to start from the beginning in hope of some words of wisdom...

EDIT oh well, up to page 2 before the thread turns into pointless bickering

got any details of quicker, similar spec, ones at all?

dont you know the difference between power delivery and rev band?

if you look at the power delivery on that graph, it is smooth up to the peak, it goes limp after 6.5k. That must be one hell of a diesel.

if you want to see similar specs doing faster, it would be smart to post the spec and bhp first.

No way would I want this in any kind of sports car...It is WOEFULLY unresponsive in the LCR when entering braking zones and you need a quick rev blip for the downshifts.
