Wouldnt he have been fine in the UK? stupid american leccy doesnt have inherent earth does it? here it would just trip a breaker.
Hmm, the problem here is that Electricity moves at the speed of light (or as near as dammit thats makes no difference) so by the time the short/overload hits the circuit breaker it will be hitting the kid too. So he would have definately received a decent jolt at least.

[EDIT] Just in case pedants want to pick me up on this - yes I know electicity doesn't actually move, but I'm talking about the time taken for the Energy to get from point A to point B. Thought I would keep it simple for obviuos reasons ;)

jolt yes, knocked out no. It all about earthing, electricity might be fast, but its selctive and will always choose the best (fastest) route to earth. In this case that would have been down the earth cable built into all UK mains leads. This variance over the earth would have tripped the breakers thus cutting the power before it hurt the kid.

Probably anyway, its not a garauntee

I would have thought everyone knew the basical rule about Mixing water with electricity

If my power supply needed cooling down, why not use a fan? or just turn it off for a little bit!

14 years old and stupid enough to cool an electrical device with a bag and a pan of water...
I assume there is some sort of education system in North Carolina?

IDIOT!!!
