Apparently, the hold up for the freight planes in Miami means that six teams are still waiting for the cars to arrive, and all teams are waiting for their engines. The overnight curfew has been removed so the crews can work overnight to get the cars ready for FP1/quali tomorrow.

Who thought have three races in three continents on three consecutive weekends was a good idea? And sticking the sprint qualifying in the middle of that just seems capriciously cruel.

Which one is the third continent? As far as I can see it's 2 in North America and one in South America. Wasn't there a two week gap between Turkey and the US GP?

As for the sprint. I'm not a fan, but complaining that it is on when you go out for dinner is a bit silly. If you want to watch don't make dinner plans when it's on. That's pretty simple. You've decided dinner is more important, so embrace it.

The Mercs can't compete if it's dry. My prediction is Max pole, max sprint win and max race win. Perez to collide with Hamilton and Bottas to not make top 5 in either race.

Hamiltons been rumoured to take an engine penalty for weeks. This isn’t new info :p

If anything, I’d rather he took it at Brazil where overtaking is possible. It would have been wasted at Mexico.

Last weekend was Mexico, this Brazil, next is Qatar. 3 races, 3 consecutive weekends, 3 continents.

I was complaining that I'd forgotten this was a sprint weekend, nothing more. Normally F1 doesn't effect my Friday evening plans. Such is life.

Pretty much sews up the WDC for Max if true, baring a DNF or similar issue of course.
It's still all to play for. Hamilton should still get third at worst, probably second if Perez can't repeat his Mexico performance.

It is almost out of Hamilton's hands if Verstappen wins on Sunday, irrespective of where Hamilton finishes and even if he gets the extra point for the sprint. If Verstappen wins the race after finishing 2nd in the sprint behind Hamilton, then Verstappen goes on to finish second in the remaining races then Hamilton has to finish second on Sunday and win all three of those races with fastest lap in 3 of them to win the title, hoping Verstappen doesn't get the fourth fastest lap.

If Mercedes manage to get Bottas to finish ahead of Verstappen in one of the races then the title race is still very much on though.

Even if this weekend plays out as forecast, this is F1 - nothing is ever certain. As Murray said, IF is F1 spelt backwards. There are still 800 miles of racing with probably another 500+ of practice and qualifying - a lot can happen in that time.

Mercedes clearly testing new components for next year. I assume they’ve been using their engine to brute force their way through their aero limitations. It’ll be interesting to see how their engine fares next year if they hopefully have a decent aero package alongside it.

Got home from work already to watch FP1 and it hasn't recorded on my virgin box :(, seems the EPG is wrong, normally its "Live: Formula one" and the practice session was labelled just "Formula one" so the series link didnt work. Bummer!

Why did you say clearly? What have they been running I didn’t notice to be honest.
