This has started drifting off discussions about the race itself so let's try and keep at least roughly on topic please.

Lol what.....
Do you remember what you was saying a couple pages ago? You used this as justification of it being correct and moved your argument point to sit behind that. Now you are saying that you dont believe it.
Let me simplify it for you. Max has repeatedly come out and said he doesn't care about records. From that fact there are two possible realities.

(1) Max actually doesn't care about records. Meaning he has absolutely no validation for not giving the place back to Perez. Conclusion? He's a tool.

(2) Max has previously lied, and does actually care about records. Conclusion? He's a lying tool, who also happens to be very two-faced. And he doesn't even have the gall to come out and say why he screwed over his teammate.

You're clearly a fan of his, given the contortions you've got yourself in by defending him. So which would you go for?

EDIT: Feek beat me to it. No worries I've got nothing else to say on the race. Looking forward to seeing if the Merc pace was a fluke for Mexico and Brazil (high altitude), it'll be very telling if RB still struggle at Abu Dhabi.

I just really want to know why max took that crazy decision to air in public something we as fans do not fully know about.

Whatever the reasons, it was stupid.

I do like perez. But it would be a great talking point if perez does come third due to that.

Since when has finishing second in WDC ever mattered to drivers ? Been watching for decades and can’t recall it ever being a thing. It’s kinda bizarre seeing two high profile drivers actually caring so much about finishing second that they want their team mates to get out of the way for them.

Even on social media you have lots of people talking about the battle for second. I can only assume it’s the new younger generation of f1 who have watched drive to survive and come to the false conclusion that finishing second is a big deal.

The funniest would be if Russell lands the win + FL, while Pérez and Leclerc suffer failures or crashes of some kind, so that he comes second by a point and Pérez ends up 4th because Max is a nobber.

Perez has never finished 2nd and Redbull never finished 1 -2 , it was such a small thing to do just one example do we remember what part Perez played last race of last season ? and its made MAX come out looking bad not like he needs much more of that could have just let him pass would come across better having already won the championship and helping team mate

Red Bull just released a statement about the Max and Perez stuff.

I mean, wow. I know Horner is the gas lighter in-chief but this takes the biscuit.

The bit at the end is rich, considering Max's mum has been taking part in the online nonsense/stirring **** up.

As a team we made some mistakes in Brazil. We had not envisaged the situation that unfolded on the last lap and we had not agreed a strategy for such a scenario before the race. Regretfully, Max was only informed at the final corner of the request to give up position without all the necessary information being relayed. This put Max, who has always been an open and fair team player, in a compromising situation with little time to react which was not our intention. Following the race Max spoke openly and honestly, allowing for both drivers to resolve any outstanding issues or concerns. The Team accept Max's reasoning, the conversation was a personal matter which will remain private between the team and no further comment will be made.

The events that followed from a social media point of view are completely unacceptable. The abusive online behaviour towards Max, Checo, the Team and their respective families is shocking and saddening and unfortunately is something that we as a sport are having to address with depressing regularity. There is no place for it in racing or society as a whole and we need to do and be better. At the end of the day this is a sport, we are here to race. Death threats, hate mail, vitriol towards extended family members is deplorable. We value inclusion and want a safe space for everyone to work in and enjoy our sport. The abuse needs to stop.

It does seem like they don't want to upset their star driver and completely ignores the selfish attitude/message he gave over the radio.

Max's mum was trying to stir up the rumours of Checo having an affair too... so maybe have a word with her without trying to gaslight Perez fans ffs.

What a rubbish statement, it's almost like they don't know F1 TV exists so people can (and have) re-watched it to find Max was told more than once and earlier than the last corner.

I know we can't use nicknames, but I did laugh at Max picking up the name Mistakesappen :D

All that says to me is that they think the fans are stupid. As if putting an inaccurate press release out there will somehow make everyone ignore the media clips published by F1 themselves of Max's radio comms which show them to be liars.

Toxic, toxic team.

It is quiet amazing how they can just try to re-write history.

I predict that Checo's inevitable silence/no comment on the matter from now on will confirm what we all know; that Max threw his toys out of the pram for no real reason and RB are too scared to upset him. You watch. And the lying about telling him on the last corner? Classic RB disinformation. Did they help Trump get elected in 2016? :p

"Not agreed a strategy". There was no strategy required, Max was told and Max refused because of petty reasons.
Yep, definitely didn't need a strategy, but I also don't believe for one second the idea of one driver chasing points for P2 in the WDC ending up behind the generally faster teammate towards the end of the race, hadn't crossed their minds. Absolute nonsense either way.

I do hope this provides some good opportunity for Checo to screw over Max next year. How long is is contract for/how expensive would it be for them to get rid of him after 2023?

A fairly predictable statement from Redbull to be honest. Lies, followed by an attempt again at making them out to be the victims. This "abuse" that they find intolerable is only intolerable to them because they can't handle the truth which hurts them so much. We don't need conspiracies and lies to bring disrepute to Redbull, we simply point out the reality and facts and remind them of it on social media platforms. Horner likes to call this hate and abuse. It's not a crime to hate Max last time I checked.

Perez signed a 2-year extension earlier this year, so he is currently contracted until the end of 2024. However, we all know how little contracts matter in F1 ;)

Being the bigger man and not doing anything rash would be the better play.

I'd imagine it'll come down to whether or not he gets P2 after Abu Dhabi. If he does, no worries we won't hear anything about it again. If he doesn't, well.. :o
