Breaking Bad Season 5 - Part I

did anyone else notice about the relevance of the ampul of ricin and the baby now being able to walk :( this and the children moving back i think its what is supposed to be really the bad ending soon.

I can't believe after all the effort Walt's been to tying up loose ends he would be so stupid to leave that book around.

Can't wait for the final few episodes.

Awesome finale.

Would Walt really leave that book hanging around though? I just don't think he would. I agree with this writer:

"I cannot believe he’s never noticed the inscription before, since it had been his bedside reading material for a while. And I cannot believe crafty Walt would still possess the book in the first place — this is the Walt who’s always been so careful to destroy any connection to any criminal act."

I have to agree about the book, no way do I believe Walt would allow such a highly incriminating piece of evidence to just be sitting around the house. Not through lazyness, forgetfulness, carelessness, or simply thinking there's no chance anyone will ever see it and make the connection, it doesn't ring true for me at all.

It does bother me that Hank has found out in such a cheap way, it's definately not what I'd expect from a show that has set such high standards. But this is Breaking Bad, a show that has been astonishing for such large portions of its time, I don't really want to moan too much when I feel they could do better, since the vast majority of the time they do, and easily too.

Amazing, utterly amazing show.

Good to see them bring the story to a close though, sick of shows just running and running to bring in the coin.

We have seen a shift in Walt's behaviour and attitudes, he has become increasingly blasé - specifically towards killing and being in the meth business, seemingly believing he cannot be caught. The saying "familiarity breeds contempt" seems appropriate in this regard. He also continues to become increasingly self-possessed (The "Do you know who I am?" scene in the desert for example)

It would not surprise me if he kept the book as some kind of trophy, a sort of affirmation of being 'The Man'.
