I've just finished watching Breaking Bad for the first time and OMG what an overrated show.

It's a good show, no doubt about it but it's not THAT good. It's a solid 7 out of 10 throughout the series.
The last two seasons were pretty good, but I thought it lost it towards the end though with the Neo Nazis.

I definitely do not get the love of Walt as a character, he's a **** from the beginning. When he says 'I'm the one who knocks', NO YOU'RE NOT, YOU JUST WORK FOR OTHER PEOPLE AND CAN'T REALLY DO ANYTHING!

I thought Gus was an excellent character and antagonist. Jesse was easily the best character in the show but even his story became a bit rubbish towards the end.

7/10 would not watch again

Guess it resonates with different people in different ways. It's my fave series ever.

As far as his "Im the one who knocks" speech, I think he is trying to give himself the belief in that quote as much as Skyler.

Nah it's the bestest. On a re-watch, I thought it got a bit slow in series 4, but that's it. Also, series 1 is very depressing... lots of emphasis on cancer and being ill.

Watching a show on-demand or on DVD/Blu-Ray doesn't have the same impact as waiting every week for a new episode. The chance to talk about and read hype over a season with other fans on a forum adds to the excitement.

As for the "I AM THE ONE WHO KNOCKS" quote.. Walt is the biggest villain in the show. He is the cause of pretty much every death in the series.

I think the reason why I and others praise this show so much is that most of us started watching it before it was hailed as "the greatest tv show" ever made. Those getting into it now expect it to be mind blowing.

I think that had a big part of it.

The good thing is we all know True Detective is the greatest show ever made.

I've watched the first season and start of the second. It wasn't gripping me, but i will pick it up again.

Pretty much did this as it was airing, but wish I'd persevered and kept up with it throughout. I caught up by the time series 5 started airing. It's worth it.

Somehow I still kept being on his side all the way through. Which is quite frightening given all the horrible violence and death crap this show normalized.

Most don't know it but it actually aired in the UK a few years back. They showed season 2 back-to-back late at night. Haven't seen the last 6 episodes and it always drives me nuts when people tell me that I NEED TO WATCH them!! :o

I was there in the beginning, when people only knew him as Hal. I'll get round to watching it when I damn please. :p

It's an excellent show but would rank behind, The Wire, The Sopranos, The Shield and Game of Thrones for me. It's not one I would consider rewatching but I could rewatch the others I mentioned numerous times.

Far from overrated though, easily a 9/10.

Walt isn't supposed to be a saint, he's supposed to be human. I don't think his actions are even that extreme, given the situation he finds himself in. Sure there are points where he could back out, but his ego gets the better of him and dominates his character for the rest of the show. I don't see it as a horrifying thing, just human. We all have egos, and put in his shoes I'd bet you would be surprised how you would act.
