Breastfeeding in restaurants

I think with breast feeding it is certainly the people who are 'uncomfortable' who need to be told to get a grip or just GTFO

It is entirely subjective! In some countries a woman would be absolutely sneered at for wearing short sleeves - does that mean we should just go around telling them to do one if they're offended? Of course not. You can apply this same argument to any situation really where someone finds something inappropriate.

I don't know what to believe anymore

The shroud looks ridiculous, but I can't believe anyone would burst in to tears over it. I don't know what's worse, people being professional prudes, or bursting in to tears over being asked to wear a dignity shroud.

All the women I've been around when Breast feeding have been really discreet about it & it looks no more than a cuddle unless you are Gawping at her.
I can't believe people would complain about it but then this is the age we live in.

On a world scale, definitely. But if we're talking about the UK, I think his comments are more than reasonable.

The words you use, they have meaning. Unless you don't know what "most" means. Also, what Fox said.

That's my point, that and other things are just as "natural" on the scale of all things natural, and yet they aren't considered acceptable; ergo it being "natural" isn't the most sensible argument to use.

It was perfectly obvious as to what I and others meant.

Breastfeeding is a natural method for feeding a child and thus, in my opinion a mother should be free to feed her child wherever she see fit as long as it is safe to do so.

My misses was asked to leave a cafe for doing it even though only person who could have known what was going on was the staff member serving us as my son was covered with blanket from all views but vertical.

Sad thing is they are telling all women to breastfeed and basically saying you will harm your child if you do not but then they do not legislate to protect the people who at least try

Say what you mean then, because as I said, the words you use have meaning and when you're being pedantic over things in such a way (it's okay BECAUSE it's natural) then you shouldn't expect anything less.

Your argument for it being natural in the first place, made no sense as people pointed out other things that were/are also natural that would never be considered appropriate.

Really don't see the issue, people need to get over themselves if they are put off by it. As a race we have come so disconnected from nature its quite scary sometimes.

Unless the women is crazy obese, well that's just obscene! :p

It is a forum, we all have better things to do that make sure our posts would stand up in court.

I don't know what to believe anymore

Baby says, "get me out, I feel a right tit under here!"

In other news, I'm defending my right to have a hand shandy under a restaurant table because it's the most natural thing in the world. ;)

yes you can thus it is silly to try and please everyone

someone might think it is inappropriate to wear a hat indoors - someone wearing a hat indoors isn't obliged to do anything about it

likewise with breastfeeding - perhaps they don't feel comfortable doing it in the restaurant toilets, perhaps they don't feel comfortable draping some cloth that doesn't belong to them over their baby

perhaps the person who feels uncomfortable at the sight of it shouldn't stare and should just look away

But it's against the law to ask somebody to stop breastfeeding. My wife is currently breastfeeding and she's never been asked to leave anywhere. I suspect you would be hard pressed to tell she was doing it anyway.
