Bring Back my Scamera

Never mind its back.. Thats pretty nasty from hitting a crossing. Even one of those signs that flash up the speed limit would help. Maybe a camera van parked there every now and then. Would soon slow people down.

look at the mess its made of the under tray. He's hit that island with a fair old force.

As dolph says, the fact they removed the camera is proof enough that its not about road safety, its about money making. Camera doesnt make any money because everybody obeys the speeds limit and keeps the accident rate down

so they remove it :( no doubt to put one somewhere else more profitable.

We have the same problem as you Malc.

People accelerate through the traffic lights approx 200 metres away house and are often doing speeds well over 60mph by the time they get to my house. The road is a relatively narrow 30mph road with parking down the entire length of one side. It's just not suitable for that sort of driving unless it's like 2 am or something.

I should set up a camera one afternoon and show you just how fast some people come down there, it's mental.
Leicestershire seems to have a very high propertion of drivers who adopt the "Coming through, teeth gritted, and hope for the best" technique.

Although a camera wouldn't be a bad move here, I think a sensible solution would be to see why people are crashing. If the island isn't visible enough, then it needs moving, or a big light sticking on it or something.

god yes

no offence to you or Malc, but leicester seems to be full of ignorant inconsiderate *****. Just take a trip to beaumont leys Tesco and watch the behaviour. Same goes with Fosse Park Asda. They behave exactly the same way with a supermarket trolley as they do with a car. I lived in Leicester for about 3 years, and have been driving there to visit my other half before she moved for another 3 years. And ive some of the worst pieces of driving ive ever seen there

Forefront of my mind was the event i saw down saffron lane. Right hand lane, for right turn only at a set of traffic lights near the laundrette opposite the park. Literally 6/7m or so in front of the white line was an island in the middle of the road. So it really was right turn only.

Anyway, idiot pulled into the right hand lane, then pulled across the car in the left hand lane, and turned left. How on earth they didnt have a massive crash is one of sheer luck, as not even the most paranoid of drivers would expect somebody at the lights to do that. Go in the right hand lane and race and go straight on maybe, but not go in a right hand only lane to turn left.

heres a photo of the junction in question.

Lol, snap - been coming here regularly for about 5 years and lived here nearly 2. Okay so in Wales nobody indicates, but the driving standard was monumentally higher. Even Kate notices the difference.

And no offence taken, I'm not from here I only live here :D

glad to know im not the only one then ! living t'up north everybody seems much more polite at junctions etc... and theres a noticable difference. I thought it was just northern tinted spectacles :D

What always surprises me about the driving here is that the people hooning about with seemingly no idea what's going on around them are not youngsters in fast cars, or even boy racers - that I could understand, I drove like a bit of a **** sometimes in residential areas when I was younger, I think most of us did.

But these are generally men and women in their 30's/40's in saloons with families, or increasingly blokes in their 40s on their own in Mitsubishi Warrior type things, not what I'd have expected.

I think it's true to say that people have a more casual driving style around these parts. I know i drive very farmer these days where as i used to drive city style. One thing i have noticed though is that people Don't thank you for letting them out which is **** poor in my opinion.

No i agree Hinckley is awful for people thanking you.

Gilly the problem with one of those one way bollard things is that this is a main route out of the town and gets congested as it is. There are normally cars parked on the road that cause you to move out there.

Aero

Malc you should put a big yellow box up in the street.

Who cares if there is no working camera, As soon as its seen people will that to slow down:p
