Bring Back my Scamera

I don't understand how on EARTH the car flipped.....

Hit the island unevenly at high speed and 2 wills would have lift off the ground and then over he goes.

If you ever have been Bush bashing through a mud track wide enough for 1 car at speeds around 80kph-110kph and hit a bit pot whole or a bit of a ledge on the side of the road you will understand how hitting something like that will lift 2 wheels off the ground and with out the right thinking and snap decision you can be up side down in no time:p

That increased pollution argument is absolutely pathetic.

Good, neutral source of information. It could be written by you (or someone like you who doesn't like speed bumps).

EDIT: Just read the site in more detail and apparently speed bumps cause lots of noise because "in some places drivers press their horns as they go over speed bumps". As I said, pathetic.

Perhaps you'd like to provide some actual evidence to support your viewpoint then?

And it's written by the association of British Drivers, from the references at the bottom from government commissioned studies by the DfT...

Speed bumps cause a lot of pollution, that's pretty obvious. Slowing down for them, speeding up afterwards will use a lot of fuel. It will involve engine noise too. Then there is the noise of vehicles actually going over them....

There's nothing like a well balanced argument, and that's certainly nothing like one

Would you like to provide some references to back up your assertions that all the evidence Dolph has linked to is "pathetic", or is this just your own opinion, and therefore as relevant as a vasectomy to a eunuch?

Anyone who thinks that a road feature that encourages more braking and acceleration does not cause more pollution is clearly ignorant of the way in which the internal combustion engine operates.

It's not a matter of opinion! A matter of opinion would be how MUCH pollution is caused. My statements were epistemically and objectively factual and hence no 'balanced argument' was required.

No.. please don't bring back that scamera. It sucked. I never break the limit down near your house Malc when visiting the parents, but still it was more annoying having people staring at their speedo rather than looking where they're going. Especially if I'm going the other way and it's tight enough. Saying that though, I'm not denying it was safe place to have one, right outside the college considering the numbers of students spilling out at all hours.

I wonder if good old Jim Tomlinson was out taking a few shots, being the local rags photographer. He lives right near you, and coincidentally, is my brother in laws father :)
