BRINK

You know i can't say i have high hopes of a game that isn't released for at least 5 months (i've heard q1) and already has a free 'DLC' if you preorder. I call it a sign of things to come, buy this empty shell of a game and fill it at extra cost? I think not.

/optimism

Free DLC? Wha? I can't find it.
All I can see is a weapon, tattoo, a mask, that's about it, hardly worth the pre-order, but games have been doing pre-order bonuses for years now , unfortunately.

Gut feeling its going to bomb - despite the "SMART" feature its still clumsy to play. Prolly won't be a big issue if your using a controller and used to fiddly fps games, but on PC it just won't flow well.

Wouldn't even say it's decent chance of failure is down to any gameplay feature or how good the game is; ET:QW was a decent enough game, but just didn't hit the ground running which had them lose interest in properly supporting it with patches / content which then turns the people who were playing it sour and ultimately against it.

I can see the same thing happening with BRINK; will be good but just won't get that overnight lolmodernwarfare success and will have the developers bail for a new project leaving it dead in the water.

But even if the game turns out to suck it might be fun to spend an hour or two making a bad ass looking guy to not play ^^

Theres a lot of good ideas in there... but the execution is fatally flawed - i.e. having the terminals dotted around to change kit, etc. just never works in reality.

Indeed they have unfortunately, though the steam update popup called it 'The Spec-Ops DLC', basically meaning they're giving you a few skins that probably took some guy a few hours for preordering and people who come later have to pay an unknown (and probably unreasonable) amount. It seems like an easy way to keep churning out useless DLC that do nothing but unbalance it for people who don't buy them.

I've high hopes for this one, getting sick of the same old generic modern man-shoots, this could be refreshing.

Also, managed to get in on Zavvi pre-order for about £19 ;).

L.A. Noire isnt being released for PC, its an Xbox360 exclusive. I assume you have a 360?

Brink looks good although i get the feeling unless you advertise heavily this multiplayer FPS's will struggle to be picked out in the crowd

Ya I know it console exclusive,I'm getting it for the ps3 and brink for the pc :)

I hope this game is more than a console fad... the graphics look good, the ideas look great.. i worry as i worry with every fps these days that it will be designed for consoles with no real skill involved in getting kills (aim in someones rough direction, fire half a clip)

It's made by SplashDamage who made wolf:et and Quake Wars so it should be pc-aimed. The biggest hurdle I see with this game is the fact that it uses the same id tech 4 engine as doom3/quake4/quake wars/wolfenstein2009, and they all failed pretty badly with online play, as I understand.

Also looking forward to this one a lot. It looks fresh, interesting and innovative, which is something that I feel FPSs are in dire need of atm. It's made by splash damage who did the brilliant wolf: ET, so they know how to make a good shooter even if quakewars wasn't my cup of tea.
