There's stuff going on, might end up like Ashton Court apparently used to be, community-based and small: http://www.thebristolfestival.org/Is this still going ahead? After the **** up this year, the council apparently said it was going to be the last one...
I dunno about *the* best but certainly a very good one Depends what frame of mind I am in...best pub in Bristol is the Highbury Vaults in kingsdown. FACT!
The Transition Towns initiative seeks to engage whole communities in finding practical alternatives to the current fossil fuel-led systems and lifestyles, leading to the creation of an Energy Descent Action Plan - a timetabled plan for a community to move to a lower energy future which is abundant, truly sustainable, relocalised and beautiful. With the challenges of peak oil and climate change on the horizon it makes sense to start planning a resilient local infrastructure now while there is still plenty of time to think.
Transition Bristol hopes that the process of re-designing our city will be inspiring and positive, "unleashing the collective genius of the community" in the words of Rob Hopkins, the instigator of Transition. The focus is on taking a positive approach - understanding the issues, examining current practices and then creating solutions amongst ourselves. The intention is that via a collective effort to respond to the challenges of peak oil and climate change we inevitably create a city we're much happier living in.
We're not here to say we mustn't fly, instead we want to make Bristol so vibrant, interesting and colourful that we won't want to go anywhere else!
There also a facebook group on it, as well as a thread or two on a local music forum... I think they're still looking for acts/soundsystems/stewards/etc... so I'm not sure if they'll get it done in time...There's stuff going on, might end up like Ashton Court apparently used to be, community-based and small: http://www.thebristolfestival.org/
Though I can't find any news since this consultation on the 25th October...
http://www.guardian.co.uk/britain/article/0,2763,1053822,00.htmlBristol is a ****hole, everybody there talks like farmers and stuff.
Hence why I live in Yate
I've only been to Yate once, and I was filming at 2am in the rain, so I probably didn't get the best impression of it...LOL, surprised Yate is that far down the list
To be fair it's not that bad out here, just a bit.......Stepford. A night on the **** in Sodbury high street rocks, then hop on the nut-bus into Bristol to go clubbing
Also, the fact that I'm minutes away from Castle Combe is great
A night on the **** in Sodbury high street rocks,
but for an evening?
Judging by the amount of posts asking " What Bristol is like ? "
Get off your butts and come to the centre of england.
We do not all drive tractors.
We have electricity.
We also have roads and sanitation.
The language is a bit tricky to pick up ( Think Deliverance+Alcohol )
Popular music has now moved out of the tea rooms.
Some public houses stay open after dark.
There are also some after hours dancing clubs.
Congrats dude, when did this happen?
