Britans Youngest Mum to be (12years old)

My 2nd Cousin was pregnant at 12, gave birth at 13. Her mother used to let her slap on the make-up and go out with her mates til all hours. In fairness to her, she's made a go of her life since, but still, it's the parents fault tbh.

So did having a baby young effect her life much, like education and work etc?

Excatly, but where in the Sun article do you see any condemnation, it all seems ok, it's like a bit of a joke a bit of a freak show.

These people need to know the seriousness of the situation can imagine when the baby grows up and find the newspaper clipping...can you imagine finding a clipping of your mother saying these things, it's just disgusting.

It's pretty sad really :(

If I'm honest I knew nothing of sex or that sort of thing or was interested by it till I was around 16 or so then girls started to get interesting.

I think it's awful how we have so many teenage pregnancies here in the UK - I think I heard on the radio that we have the biggest number in Europe by a very big margin in ratio to our population?

I think it's down to education - people get bored and have nothing else to do (because they lack the education), so they "grow up" in that sense a lot earlier. Unfortunately I think this is mainly owing to truancy and lack of caring in the slightly poorer communities of the UK. It sounds snobby, it's not meant to be however. I don't know what the answer is - but it's not right really for someone so young to have kids.

I do feel sorry for them, because they don't know any better - they're children afterall not adults. The people I'm more angry at are the people who are supposed to guide them and help them form a good life, i.e. the parents, the teachers, and other people involved in their lives.

I am not a religiouys person but i am starting to see a lot of merit in the abstinence and moral strength that is promoted by some people.

Im trying to find some literature for oyu. It was some research done into STI's and pregnancy amoung youth (18 and under I think). Off all groups surveyed Christian youths were by far the lowest down when it came to percentages who have/had an STI.

Christianity irrelavant?

Most kids are more mature then there parents like to think.

But risking pregnancy at 12 while your secondary education is just starting makes you a...

****ING SILLY BILLY

For some reason, you sound like a bible-bashing yank lol.

Its another example of the use of inciteful language used but tabloid journalists isn't it?

She a proud mum because her daughter is earning her £30,000 for a front page story in a 'gutter rag' her daughter is also smoking which may or may not make her pretty angry or disapointed. Which is the hack going to use? The proud bit of course because that way they can stir up more outrage in the populus.

It never ceases to amaze me how people can be so manipulated by the tabliods. This child is a VICTIM, both of neglect by her family, probably failed by the education system, the education welfare officer, social services and the police, she is 11, not old enough to make balanced decisions yet we have statements like

"stick her in a work house"

Would that work as a deterent for other young people in a similar position would it stop them from getting in the same situation? I would say not, something in society needs to change to reduce the chances of young people getting pregnant but punishing them is very unlikely to be the solution, better sex/ social education and parental care, more support from the police in reducing the sale of alcohol to under 18 maybe, but then this will be expensive so its better that we ridicule them in the press and blast them on internet forums because that enables us to express our outrage whilst costing us the price of a copy of the Sun or an internet connection.

If I told people that to solve this problem I would need an extra 30p a day from them in taxes you would probably tell me to **** Off! but they'll spend that 30p on a comic so they can have a laugh and express they're disgust at society without a second though, Hmmmmm :/

I have no problem with tbh. As long as they or their parent are paying for the baby’s upkeep. We all know this is very unlikely though.

Some girls these days almost look at having a baby as a career choice. If your not doing to well at school (i.e. your a bit think), and your prospects aren't that good why not, I probably would have done if I was a girl.

I have no problem whatsoever with the moral standards that most religions promote but morals are not the sole preserve of Christianity or any other religion. However, I do accept that a moral framework needs a reference point and in the West, that is best served by Christianity; mainly because the general populace are too stupid to work it out for themselves.

The youngster had unprotected sex with a boy of 15 in Edinburgh on a night out with pals last August. The father, who cannot be identified, may face legal action.
So, what about the girl herself? I see no mention of the fact that she also had underage sex. Won't she also face legal action?

Rabble... RabbleRabbleRabble!

Well its happened, I can't say I am distraught or shocked, I thought it would have happened by now. Good luck to the lot of them.

From what I'v seen, it's illegal for a guy to have sex with an underage girl, but what the girl does, whatever the age, is fine. Gender equality for the win!

What a load of codswallop (gotta love that word)!

I don't get what it is with kids these days. They try to act really grown up and mature, and yet they go and do something as stupid as this!

You'd think my 12 year old step sister is 14-15 the way she acts. When I was 12, I was out playing tig, or riding my bike around the park. She goes out with her mates shopping in town and what not.

It's not suprising some of them have sex... they think they're old and mature enough to 'handle' it. I recently found out that my step-sister had been spending time with a 17 year old lad and had also tried cutting herself!

What goes on in their heads is beyond me! I didn't once think of depression or cutting my wrists when I was 12. Hell, I've been through a lot more than her and I still don't think it.

Thats wrong, child abuse it not a crime which can only be commited by men and although some may say that the abuse of an underage boy by a woman over the age of 16 is OK and a bit of a laugh its still illegal.

Think of this, yeah, a 40yr old milf does a 13yr old boy, now I know at 13 if some hot girl did stuff to me I'd be quite happy. If a 40yr old man does a 13yr old girl, he is a pedo and goes to jail, surely.

I don't think you can say that she is a victim. Not old enough to make balanced decisions at 10/11? How can you even blame the education system? You mean there is a lack of sex education?

In my opinion it's up to the individual the schools can only do so much. Where I went to school girls at 15/16 were getting pregnant despite having good (imo) sex education. It's up to the family to raise her correctly not anyone else, social services etc. just help along the way, they can't help a lost cause.

I just think we need some new laws on the matter, I'm sure what yet as I believe most will be against human rights.
