**British Armed Forces Discussion Thread**

Ok so "Basic Skills" is apparently Maths and English tests. What am I to expect? So I can go practise counting my toes and learning my england.

Will be doing my running right after this, on the 23rd and Ive got a ****ing cold at the moment though I'm just getting out of it.

I'm tempted to go for a run a bit later and clear my lungs but I dont know if I should or not!

Havnt been ill since I made that thread in the sports section.. has to happen nao D:

Is there a reason I have to do them or does everyone do them? I havnt given proof of my GCSEs yet as I didnt have them a while ago but I have that now, I forgot to mention I have the certs could be that?

Sounds like it's just aptitude testing? Most trades have them.

Don't worry about the tests, expect questions like "bob is taller than bill, who is shorter?", later in your army career gcse's might save you from doing numeracy and literacy NVQ's when it comes to doing CLM.
 
Hmm I've already done that in the BARB test the bob is taller thing. A google seems to indicate the same thing though, I guess its just a little more indepth. I'm not worried though I just like to have as much advantage as possible and when it comes to tests, I left school 10 years ago... so the most basic of things often elude me! :D

Mine was bloody awesome. But for some reason I placed 4th out of 6 in my troop for LCpls. However, everyone in my troop was curious about how I placed so low, including the seniors. Just my boss in an absolute arse. Managed to be placed 3rd in my Sqn out of LCpls mind you lol.

Got a strong recommendation for promotion though, even though I'm not eligible. Just waiting to see what my 2RO has said.
 
Couldn't care less about my SJAR. I'm in my last 2 years so it makes no difference.
Oh, and I'm a lazy git too so not holding my breath tomorrow.

Will obviously have a drink or two with those that do get promoted. Or help the ones that didn't drown their sorrows ;)
 
Finally out of Chatham, enjoyed the RE CMS course, now a week off before heading to unit where I know no one and the regiment are all on tour now.... ha fail

At least its new z type accommodation apparently

Just really p*** off your new colleagues by moving into the best room you can find, and move their stuff out into the corridor. That's what seems to happen at my unit at least!
