British Grand Prix 2012, Silverstone - Race 9/20

For those (once again) jumping on the 'grow some balls' bandwagon, its noting to do with that.

Over a certain depth of water an F1 car floats. No amount of driver skill or balls stops them from just sailing straight on.

Its not about having no balls, its about having machiery that is unusable.

this is why rules need changing. Can do it one off three ways.

1 - raise car height for the entire season
2 - declare it wet and force cars to change to a wet minimum height
3 - declare it wet and allow the teams to decide what height to run.

I think what people are getting at, is that we need a complete rethink of the way the red flag situation is handled - the drivers don't have to go out, if they feel it is dangerous they can stop.

Then don't go out and set a time. Most of the cars were going along just fine, it was the odd one or two who were pushing too hard or had the wrong setup.

So what, a bit of rain, let's red flag the whole weekend? It seems the FIA would rather do this these days.

Gotta laugh. Jake said at the start of the programme they're aiming to make this a great show for all the disappointed people turned away from the track. So what do they get? Rain and stoppage. :D

To me it doesn't make any sense stopping the session.

The cars don't have to go out.

Someone will crawl around and snatch pole.

Jake's is mentioning that it's a high speed circuit, but no-one is forcing the cars to drive at high speed.

So what happens if it starts raining a bit during a race? Red flag it for 2 hours to let everyone change setup, only for it to then dry up?

They could mandate a higher ride height, but they already manage the ride height with the plank, which sits below the reference plan. Whatever you do your still going to have a large plank only mm's above the road acting as a rudder.

Things may need to be looked at, but I think its more a case of people having to accept that 'Formula 1' as it is is a series that cannot run in heavy rain.

Several drivers could get round the track safely, isn't unfair on them that they had the skill to make it round yet they get punished because some of the other drivers didn't know their limits and skidded out?

So you would rather watch an empty track than wait a bit for a proper session
