The track would be fine at this point.
So Silverstone have now protected the car parks.
Why didn't they do that on Friday? The weather was forecast.
being a track in england they should have thought that it will rain and lay the tarmac like they do our roads with it rising towards the center for rain to run off.
I've been going to Silverstone for over 30 years and in that time I have seen hardly any really good developments to the spectator services bar some toilets and some less agressive gravel areas. I have seen money spent on various pit upgrades, members buildings and infrastructure for the businesses who frequent the area but it still feels tatty. Added to this they have over the years added a level of fencing and distance to the track that makes the place a poor circuit to watch motor racing at and added to this it has lost any sense of character it had in my mind. To see TV pictures full of scaffolding holding up cheaply constructed stands simply amplifies the temporary nature of the track and to my mind virtually every modification they have made to the layout has reduced its appeal. I used to love going racing there, now I try and avoid it.
That is still one very wet track. Full wets seem to be where it is at for the moment.
