Toto saying it's fine because it was a terminal issue. It really didn't seem terminal at all. He was even shown using 7th gear freely.

They hadn't spoken about the issue at all when they told him to change modes. That conversation came after.

Couldn't catch the race, but pleased with the result. So Rosberg to need a new gearbox? Hamilton finally catching, but it is going to be close with reliability.

Exactly. Rosberg said he had an issue and they immediately told him to change modes without another word. They were clearly monitoring the issue and already knowing what the issue was were expecting Nico to call in and they have jumped the gun and spilled. Clear breach of the rules.

Because if you use your brakes hard, then it doesn't take a genius what the impact would be (faulty brakes would be different).

As Hamilton put it last race, his brakes were fine and Rosberg had available to him a dial which shows hows his brakes are doing.

I think the same should be true of tyres. I don't like the messages about tyres. You have strategies, and then it is about the driver to ensure that the strategy works.
