When they have the softer compounds next week just say you must stop within Pirellis tyre life limit, or must make 2, 3, 4 stops, whatever it takes. They do this in Motogp when they have a series of tyre failures, of course in MotoGP a failure is much more serious.

It did go rather mental! I was starting to doubt myself on the order it all happened.
 
Not sure the change of tyres for next week is really an issue, they're going softer next week and it was the hards failing! Won't have those next week!

Of course it's a concern that the tyres the failing, but the issue isn't in using different tyres for the next race.
 
Bottas' tyre failed after 37 laps
Sainz and Hamilton's tyres failed after 39 laps.
Projected life of the hard tyres from Pirelli was 40 laps.

The thing is its not necessarily just a hard tyre issue, it's just that due to the safety car that was the only spec they ran until its predicted limit.

They were complaining earlier in the weekend about the wear rate of the other compounds weren't they?

You'd expect to see more high wear issues on softer tyres, more so if it's warmer.

Next weekend is going to see a 'hard tyre' that will have a lifespan of 25 to maybe 30 laps. The softs are going to be good for barely 10 laps.
