Go rewind and watch Karun break it down in slomo.

Lewis was never ahead at any point, max actually moved left to give Lewis space, Lewis had space on the right to go to the apex but didn’t and they hit.
He moved left, then moved back to the right, clearly a bit too far to the right.

So 99% overlap counts for nothing? Usual yardstick is halfway alongside and he's surpassed that by 98%...

Arent you supposed to take a stop and go within 5 laps or something?

edit: I guess it isnt a stop and go.

For context, I'm a V fan but agree it was a racing incident. Both came out on fire today and was an amazing first lap until that point.

It would be unusual for the driver on the inside to pull out. Max didn't do enough to defend, hamilton went all in and sold the dummy, at this point the corner was won by hamilton but by the time they were near the apex hamilton had taken too much speed and couldn't turn in and still make the corner. I think back to rosberg v hamilton at austria 2016 when it was called a racing incident when rosberg ran hamilton off at t2, despite being miles from the apex. He was alongside the same distance too. I don't know what's really changed since then for the verdict to be different

Did you not see that break down from Karun?

He even said they were both at fault!

Yup

It’ll be taxes or his old jet I reckon.
Which basically all the drivers do...
