Broken Britain Movies

I know it's mentioned in the OP, but Ill Manors is the most 'Broken Britain' film I've ever seen, I doubt it could be topped.

Ended up listening to the entire Ill Manors album again this morning after seeing this mentioned, Ben Drew is a talented fellow, wrote and directed the movie and did an entire album to accompany it.

Tell me about it. I think Kidulthood and Adulthood come incredibly close.

Watched the entire Kid/Adult/Brotherhood trilogy over the xmas break, the first is almost comedic now, hasn't aged well. Adulthood however still stands out as a great movie...Brotherhood is ok but suffers from some terrible writing.

I bought the Ill Manors album last night after reading Scorza's post.

We must have taken the same path -> movie trailer -> music video -> wondering about the album -> tadaaaaaa

Is Ben Drew working on any more films??

Not sure about any more movies, he's been quiet for a while.

Watched him live a few years back doing an arena tour. First half was Defamation of Strickland Banks while not typically my kind of thing was amazing live. Then halfway through, the place went dark and he dropped into Ill Manors suddenly. About a quarter of the arena left. I'm guessing a lot of folks had only heard the DSB album and knew nothing about Ill Manors, they suddenly felt very uncomfortable. While he was doing Ill Manors and all the songs on it, the movie was playing on the screens behind him, worked perfectly.

Well I do have it listed in the opening post. Hehe.

Found a number of shorts on Million Youth Media, look at their playlists on youtube. There's one on there starring Adam Deacon.

Tyrannosaur is my favourite British movie of all time. Incredibly difficult to watch (hell, the first 5 minutes alone kills me every time), but it's a true gem from Paddy Considine.

Gary Oldmans' Nil By Mouth (yes, that Gary Oldman) is also a personal favourite, though again very grounded and raw.

Kes is a great shout too. My personal favourite Ken Loach film. It has the subtlety that so many of his later movies lack in spades.

Edit: Discount the last two, just read the post properly xD

Yup it's an insane bump, but
(a) Top Boy Season 3 just came out, and
(b) since we had so many quality suggestions before... anything related come out in the past FOUR years?
