Broken Pixel Buds? Good luck getting Google to replace them.

I'm glad I don't react like this. Surely life must be super stressful for him.... I wonder what he does for a job?

Relax. It could be worse, turn on the news to see how.

I remember losing the rag with a chat agent from BT once. But in my defence it was during lockdown and our internet went down when I was remote working. It was day three of our problem.

On day 1 spent almost two hours going through a script with another agent. Who after this almost two hour chat decided I needed an engineer to call out. This was despite me politely saying I thought it was a faulty BT hub and could they post a new one. The chat agent refused.

Day 3 the engineer called and tested the line before concluding the BT hub was faulty. He said I needed to go through customer service to get a replacement arranged. This annoyed me a bit because surely he could and should have done that.

By now we had been using our mobile phone hotspot to do remote working and home schooling.

Regardless I contacted BT again via chat agent and told him what the engineer said and gave them my case reference number. They told me that case was closed as resolved and I would need to go through the logging process again. At this point I lost the rag and swore in the chat. I did apologise because I felt bad for being a dick and thankfully the agent was professional enough to continue and sorted me with a replacement BT hub.

I want to thank the OP for reminding me that some people are dicks all the time and I should not be so hard on myself.

So many awesome replies, I'm so glad you could share in the awfulness that is Google warranty support.

A further two phone calls (totaling 20 minutes, not including wait time) and they agreed to issue an advanced replacement.

Suffice to say I'll not be keeping them, so if anybody wants them, new sealed in box, then look on MM shortly. :)

Just to reiterate, you suck.

Will you help with any warranty claims ?

Yeah it is, I'd not processed it all the first time around.

If the OP doesn't look back on this transcript with a good deal of embarrassment in a few months then, well, see my earlier post about lacking in self-awareness.
Couldn't care less, if Google purposely drive you to the point of frustration when designing these systems they deserve what they get.

Case in point, the form that precedes the web chat asks for your name, and asks you to outline the problem, so why exactly is the chat operative asking for the same information again.

Because only the first name is required and no doubt that's what you supplied. They wanted your full name for account details/warranty claim. Then you got arsey when they didn't specify full name.

Also, "pixel buds", very informative for the actual human person that you interacted with.
Such wit. 10/10. Would read again.

Really this is what these forums have come to.

You really do suck though, like, as a person. I don't really feel the need to be witty here. The huge amount of replies pointing out how and why you suck should be enough for some introspection, but they won't.

Wrong and wrong.

I've just screenshotted that for your reference.

And yes I did fill it out correctly.

I think that image was just an example to show what he meant :)

Props to you for coming back to this thread. If anyone else was to make this thread, they would either lock it or abandon it out of embarrassment but you have definitely dedicated yourself to owning the roasting you received.... due to your own actions :D

We have all been roasted at some point, you can guarantee that overclockers, the computer forum will put you straight

No you'll maybe learn one day that if you have a desire to denigrate others it's usually you that suffers low self-esteem.

Simple life truths mate.

Today's definition of "an arse" must have drastically changed then, I wasn't abusive or rude.

Just reflective of todays ********* like attitudes.
You weren’t abusive but you were definitely rude.

I think your attitude is more reflective of the bad attitudes prevalent in society not the other way around. You come across as bitter and entitled. Take a chill pill.

edit - as for the 'Amazon would just swap it out' - really? My experience with Amazon is that they want to follow similar troubleshooting steps if they can and don't just immediately replace £100 items without question, nor dish out free upgrades to models nearly twice the price.
I've always had great customer service from Amazon.

In the past I've gone on to the web chat to merely make a suggestion for the layout of the webpage and the search functions and they've credited my account a £5 voucher without even asking.

And products that have gone out of the 12 month warranty window they've dealt with efficiently and promptly.

So maybe that's why my experience with Google surprised me.
