Broken spark plug :(

I thought some remaps were sold as "Mild" and "Wild"/"aggressive" due to the fact that driving characteristics can be rather significantly altered depending on how a car is mapped (obviously).

Not an expert when it comes to the world of remaps, but I'm sure it is more than a marketing excise, especially if there is a "mild" option available.

I think the point is more about who would think that an aggressive power delivery was a good thing either on the road or the effect it has on the car.

"hey. im in the market for spending £300-£400 on new software for my car. there are two options, one makes more power than the other. i really fancy having less power"

can you imagine people just chosing to have less power?

its marketing guff

Peak power could well be the same as that will be limited by turbo size or injector size. However, it is possible to go more aggressive with the boost / timing in the mid range depending on other mods such as a better intercooler or how much risk the owner wants to take or the desired driving characteristics.

Wouldn't surprise me. One setting optimised for low end "grunt", one for making maximum peak power.

I remember when I was into E30 BMWs that the "mild" chip was the one to go for unless you had a hotter cam and other supporting mods to really take advantage of the "wild" option.

Jesus, that's mental .

I have heard a couple of times that there is no difference between the actual engine between the standard GT and the Speed other than mapping, so it'd make sense that a few extra horses could be eked out, but 100BHP+ is mind boggling!

Do it!

Chips popular on a 1980's model of car with exclusively normally aspirated engines? Did they make much difference?

Also, looking back on when you were 'into E30 BMW's' when you are 19 is a bit lol, if you were 39 sure, but.. there isnt much looking back that can be done really is there :p

When i had my e32 735 chipped back in the day all it did was get rid of the slight hesitation on take off, waste of money, but you have to try these things.

In them days (1994-95) it was K an N panel airfilter and a superchips re map!
