Bruce Lee vs Modern Martial Arts

erm you do realise bruce lee's training was his life?

Yes and as I said, training is a top MMA fighters life.

You realise that sensible rest is probably the most important part of training (assuming you were implying that training 2-3 times a day equating to 6 hours a day isn't enough)?

*edit. Sorry, I wasn't implying that at all???? It was the post I was replying to that suggested MMA fighters don't live and breath MA.

yea and sensible exercises like not doing good morning lifts and injuring your back and being told you will never kick again or walk unaided.
I guess he never fully recovered as he was supposed to be taking pain killers all the time? although people claim within 6 months or whatever it was he was kicking better than ever.

Eh? What?

Injury is part of training. Show me a top fighter who hasn't had surgery (I don't mean literally I'm sure there are a few).

It's fantastic that Bruce Lee recovered from the injury he sustained but I really have no idea what that has to do with this conversation?

I was thinking more along the lines of "sensible rest" which you mentioned and not pushing your self to injury.

which bruce lee clearly did at some point in his life.

I don't know if it's true but the rumour is he did them in the morning when he woke up without warming up.
I guess he felt invincible

He injured himself doing "Good Mornings" without warming up which is a lower back weights exercise.

Pushing yourself to injury isn't smart training and I doubt Lee would over train. You risk injury when doing any type of exercise, especially if it involves weights.

I'd imagine Bruce Lee would win. Or at least I'd hope so. His particular approach to martial arts was that it is a lifestyle to be lived and breathed. MMA fighters strike me as fame hungry meat heads who can take a punch. You don't become an MMA fighter as a way of life. You do it for fame, fortune and flange; and to look hard. Hopefully he'd win.

Wow, just wow.

Lol. It started off pants, but then got a lot better. "your 1 inch punch same size as your pecker". :D
