BSOD on new OCUK build

OCUK staff recommended reverting clock speed to optimised default. Done that and also reinstalled GPU drivers as had a BSOD relating to that when playing HL2.

Seems stable at the moment

That pc was meant to come with a guaranteed 4.50GHz stable overclock.

I'd be requesting a partial refund tbh as you didn't get what you paid for if your running the cpu @ stock speed.

The advice was to see how the stock speeds go for a couple of days and the get back to them so they can suggest tweaks to get the speed back up again.

I'll keep an eye on it.

Really appreciate the advice guys, very helpful

:D

I'd be inclined to agree but knowing exactly what people are going to be doing with their machine once they get it and the software they'll be installing and using could all create unforeseen problems?

Naaaa, if the computer was stress tested properly it should be stable in all situations. I doubt they tested it at all if it crashed simply by having steam updating.

Fair point!

I'll see how it goes and get back to them.

How much does overclocking add to the value of the build package in terms of a monetary amount do you think? How much did that cost me as it were?

Surely OCUK should check everything before it goes out? QA procedure for overclocking?

Guys you would be correct we do stress test all our systems intensely before they ship out. However computer hardware is not absolute and failures can still happen. This is why we have this forum so we can resolve them.

As staed before the OP has been requested to creat a thread in the CS section so a member of technical support can assist him, afterall that's why you buy a system with awarranty, so you get support if something does go wrong.

There is really no need for the negativity. If you aren't willing to contribute in a positive manner then please don't at all.

There is no absolute figure as two identical system could take entirely different amounts of time to reach the same stable overclock. Every PC component is different.

I have created a thread in the CS section but no reply as yet.

Fortunately a few web notes have helped today and the member of staff was very efficient.
