To stop windows rebooting on a BSOD press F8 until it boot into the Windows Advanced Option Menu for safe mode etc.
Here you can select
'disable automatic restart on system failure' press enter then restart you pc. It should now stop on the BSOD, no video camera needed.
As for the cd not booting I have had problems before where it would boot into the bios but NOT from a cd. Eventually (after many cup of coffee) I realised it was the usb keyboard causing the problem, so I changed to ps2 and this solved this problem.
